3rd Period – Third period five on five shot attempts were closer than you’d think with the Ducks pushing and scoring two goals, as the Ducks edged the Flames 20-16. Scoring chances were 10-8 for the Ducks in a close battle.
Overtime – In overtime the shot attempts were 3-1 Anaheim with neither team generating a scoring chance.

Yeah, Flames got W-O-R-K-E-D
Especially with deadly long distance floaters

As he said, you're under the hilarious belief that you can just be determined to do something and it'll go your way.
That's nice and all, but not everyone's parents told them they could be anything they wanted to be growing up. Sometimes no matter how determined you are, it doesn't come together.
To say this team lacks heart and resolve? Heart and resolve is what took them from a bottom feeder to the playoffs this season. Open your eyes.

Boo these posters!
We have no shortage of pessimistic vile posts on the board. Can't we have one with some g'damn optimism!? This isn't like 2015 where, despite winning game 3, the Flames looked completely outmatched. This is a series that is way closer than the naysayers would let you believe.
You guys can be pissy and get mad at everything and everyone but why not let some of us try to have a little ****ing fun with it!?

I thought it was very comparable to the series clincher against the Canucks 2 years ago. I have only been to 5 playoff games and last night the crowd was as good as any

Being outshot in the third is the definition of resolve. Letting Cory Perry distract you is the lack of resolve?
You have no idea what resolve is. So everything that occurs that you don't like happens because a lack of resolve. As long as I have the resolve, I will accomplish anything I want to in life? What about the heart part of your post also? You haven't mentioned that, have you conceded that part of the argument and are now trying to find obtuse ways to explain how resolve was an applicable term to use?
How about we do this. Use two different words other than Heart and Resolve to re-communicate what you meant in your post and lets see what the outcome is. Cause right now you've abandoned the Heart portion and are left trying to articulate that what you mean by resolve was a lack of success or desired outcome by the Flames. Did you actually mean the Fans of this team have more success or more ability to accomplish their goals than the players of this team when you posted and used the word resolve?

To hell with it, I'm going to believe that it's possible. This never used to happen and it's happened twice in the last 5 years.

Alright, well this team with all that heart and resolve you seem to think they have is on the verge of getting swept in a series where you all seem to think they deserve to win every game. If that your definition of "getting things done" then cool, I'm wrong, you're right.
What we saw in the regular season wasn't resolve and heart. How many times did we complain that this team had none of the determination of the team from 2 years ago? What we saw is a talented team work out their kinks to play like the team we expected and then eventually get a bit of much needed puck luck to get them a 10 game win streak which really helped their position in the standings.
This is a pointless argument about semantics.
A) I was just trying to say that the fans have more belief in what this team can do than the team itself.
B) Most of the posters on here will always say that there is nothing wrong with the team as a whole unless the wheels completely fall off. How you guys have that type of spirit after being a fan of this disappointing franchise for so long is actually quite impressive.
So think you what. Everything is fine. This time it's all on Elliot.
It's all been the goalies for 3 years now.

To hell with it, no point in being negative. Just need a win then take it game by game from there. No reason we can't do it.

Amen. What's the point of watching if you don't believe they can win?
It's 4 games in a row. A short winning streak. Go Flames Go.

It would be amazing, something that could trigger a Cup run, but I won't let myself even start to believe it unless we can to and win the 5th game.

Just want to see the Ducks lose once (lose horribly bad in the Dome)...
...and while we're at it, can we take down that Getzlaf hitmen banner?

Thats what it looked like was going to happen last night.
Me and my buddy were talking about how awesome it is that the Flames are sending them a message and dominating the ducks harder than they ever dominate the Flames in Anaheim.
Those were good times.

Hopefully this thread ends up being the 1st round equivalent of the "Playoff Positivity Thread" and the 0-3 start ends up being the equivalent of the 5-10-1 start.

Needless to say nothing would be better than a comeback to force an anything goes game 7.
If the Flames can manage this I will give up beer and liquor for 4 times as long as they are in the playoffs starting the day they are officially out.
Surely the hockey gods can't turn down such a sacrifice?

A win in Anaheim should count as two wins. Just take it one game at a time.

4 wins in a row, including 2 in ANA. Very tall task.
LA Kings did it last in 2014.
If Flames do this, they're winning the cup!
