That loss is not heartbreaking.

That loss is rage inducing.

I can't remember the last time I was this frustrated over a hockey game.

Blaming this loss on officials is cowardice. Your goalie let in two bad early goals. Sure, he was great the rest of the way, but that's hard to come back from at the best of times, never mind against a really good team with a goalie who's playing well. Those two goals put them behind the eight ball to the point where a bad bounce - which are, like, not uncommon in hockey - could cost them the game. And it did.

This one is going to take a long time to get over.

Flames cannot for the life of them stay disciplined. I just don't get it. Yes I know they are frustrated. I would be too in their place.

But what Hamilton and Brodie did was inexcusable.

Ok guys, I know we are all mad and upset... But let's regroup and remember how positive it is to actually have a team to cheer for in the playoffs.

We have a promising young team, and they played their hearts out tonight. Let's just enjoy the playoffs for what it is and give the team all the support we can in games 3 and 4.

Go flames go!

Yes obviously that was my point, not the immature play that lead to the penalty before the goal.

So the Flames have to win 4 of the next 5 games against a team that regularly beats them.
On top of that, the refs have it against the Flames, and they show no sign of stopping.

I'm guessing they split the Calgary home games, and Anaheim wins the series in game 5.

A lot of the mistakes the Flames are making are due to inexperience.
Hopefully they can mature over the years as they become more used to the playoffs.

Stajan and Bouma killing penalties with 5 minutes remaining in the playoffs is a reason we keep losing to the Ducks. Until we can upgrade those players, we will continue to be disappointed.

No offense to Stajan as he's had a good year but I think he shouldn't be killing penalties.

Bouma as well doesn't do anything on the PK but block shots and lose his man.

I think I'm more mad at myself for getting suckered in into thinking they might win in that ####hole.

Why do I keep falling for it?

I'm as disappointed and upset as the rest of you, but there are a lot of regrettable posts in this thread.

Too mad to be rational right now so I'll just make it short and stupid: the Honda Center Curse is real, Elliott is way too inconsistent, looks all world or gives up softies all over the place, Wideman effect still exists, Dougie Hamilton isn't smart, Brouwer needs to sit and Lazar needs in, Gaudreau was good but seriously needs to man up.

I'm flabbergasted at how this team continually finds ways to lose in this building. The refs need to be changed, they are a complete travesty. If players are held accountable for their performance, then so too should the refs.

Nice, what did he say? If anything, they can use this to galvanize themselves into us against the world mentality. "Screw the refs, screw the Ducks, we'll do this ourselves."

Edit: on another note, wow GG is ticked and dejected there. Coach is where a lot of us are right now.
I had that same feeling, I was just waiting for the refs to make a call any call to favor the Ducks and they didn't disappoint. The frustrating thing is the non goal then the guy holding Chiassons stick gets no call. The refs have a hand in this one.

Pretty sure you should shut up. Have not won since 04 in the regular season in ana. Have not won since 06 period in ana. Lost last game on a 3-0....in a place where, if anywhere, ever, you should recognize that something like that is lurking. Waiting to sewer your team. The gap is bigger than the grand canyon. It really is. You are delusional if you think it isnt.

You need to shut up.

Would like to see Hathaway sub in for Bouma. Hathaway brings way more pressure on the forecheck and Anaheims D is really beat up. Let Ferland loose also. Team should be pounding Anaheims D and they will fork over cookies like the Canucks did. I don't expect it though because it takes way too long for G G to adjust when the team needs a boost. I expect him to keep the same lineup even if they get swept in 4.

Brouwer has looked like garbage all season and this was the time of year he was brought in for, beyond frustrating watching him bring little to nothing each game. Dude needs to get in there and punish Anaheims D. Hope he is gone either in a trade in the offseason or Las Vegas takes him. Byron was 10 times more physical as a Flame than Brouwer has been and he is way smaller player.

Now that I have the bitchin' finished I did like a lot of players this game. Bennett looked much better the last two games and has been trending upwards. Good for him. Gaudreau and Ferland and Monahan looked much better as a line. Nice to see Backlund with the shorty. The last thing he needs to improve is his faceoffs especially in the defensive zone and then you can call him a true impact player against any center in the league. Really happy with his year.

I still believe the Flames can get it together but Gulutzan needs to react properly. When he was an assistant in Vancouver they lost that series because Vancouvers staff didn't react to Ferland who owned Vancouvers D. They kept turning pucks over all day and Vancouver had no answer. Hoping Gulutzan has learned something in that time.

It's unbelievable how we never get the bounces against these lot. It is so so so frustrating. I mean how much can it hurt to just give us one bounce.

A word for Brodie. You never indulge in the rough stuff then why on earth do you start with 2 minutes left in the period?? Even though we deserved to win on the balance of play we continue to be our own worst enemy with mind boggling plays.
