Man, I am one of Sam Bennett's biggest fans (and he played a fine game tonight), but it would have been so nice to get William Nylander in that draft. His skating, puckhandling and shot make him such a dynamic - game breaking talent.

Three bad goals agains and a goal called back that should have counted. The Flames outplayed the Ducks in that game and deserved a win. There is no reason to be intimidated by the Ducks and the bad luck in that building can't stay that way forever.

Anyone with a set of eyes can see it. Even the most fair weather fan. You don't lose 27-28 straight in another teams rink because of voodoo magic. You do because you aren't as good. Period.
And yes, the gap is that large. 28 straight losses in a visitors rink kinda confirms it. A good team gets this monkey off their back years ago.

If anyone is mad at anyone other than Brodie for skating towards a player already on the ice, while he was out of the play and the puck was moving up ice, to throw another cross check into him, then I don't know what to say.
Completely killed any chance right there. And a ref is going to call something that dumb and blatant every time. Unbelievably selfish play.

We were never going to get a better chance to win in that rink than tonight. They are basically rolling an ahl d. And we still can't win.

Some people just can't admit that the Flames are the inferior team to the Ducks. I get that it's frustrating to lose so often against them and they look for excuses, but it's still sad to see

Haven't read the thread, but my thinking is the Flames were the far superior team from about the 15 minute mark of the 1st right to the end. They lost on a crazy bounce and some poor dispcline that followed.
But think about how rarely we've been able to say the Flames were clearly better vs Anaheim. The outcome stinks, but this game says to me Calgary can beat these guys. They might even be the better team straight up. They should come out next game with confidence. And they should be angry.

Anaheim D is decimated right now. The series is in Flames players' favor, but to win it the next game CANNOT be a 1 goal game. To clear their heads they need to wipe the mat with the Ducks in game 3 (and beat them by 2 goals in game 4 also). That would set up game 5 to be the night the curse ends, and the last night of hockey in the Honda Center this season.
|
Anaheim likely doesn't win both those games without a little help from the refs.

In all seriousness we played well. Just some dumb decisions and questionable calls that cost us this one. I think the curse ends the next time we play them on their ice.

The Flames need to do more than just be marginally better than the Ducks in Anaheim. They need to want it.
I saw too much complacency from a lot of players tonight

Most tenders would have cratered after those 2 bad goals.

Most competent goaltenders wouldn't have allowed those two goals. There's a reason the Blues let him go despite is next to nothing cap hit.

I hope those who thought the Ducks were a better matchup then the Hawks are satisfied. The curse is very much real, and that Bouma deflection is f'ing proof.
Game was frustrating. But this one is 10x worse.
And GC was a POS tonight. Holy crap. Laggy choppy feed all night. Jumping in and out of 60 fps. But worst part was the CBC feed suddenly started showing the Anaheim feed, with CBC sound and a 5 second delay. Eventually switched to the Anahem feed and it did the same thing except vice versa! Honestly, that made things 10x worse emotionally for me, and I ran out of vodka
Just a horrible end to the game. As optimistic as I was, deep down I knew it would be an incredibly stupid play to end the game. And that terrible deflection was it

How the actual #### do you call that a penalty with 5 mins left in a tied playoff game?
That's a bad call in the first minute of the preseason.
Classic ####ing ponda curse bull####.
Time to win now.

who's ignoring it?
they were crappy goals to let in... but we were still tied after those two softies and it took a damn fluke of a goal for the Ducks to beat us at home.
Calgary played better than the ducks.
if you're too much of a self loathing Flames fan to see that calgary was just as deserving of that game, I don't what i can tell you.

Honestly, Hamilton deserves more of the blame. Why in the world would you blatantly hold like that with 10 minutes left in the game? Especially after what happened last game.
|
I thought Brodie and Stone actually looked a little shaky most of the night. They weren't dreadful, but they weren't good IMO.

The curse has been around a long time. It doesn't want to bow out on a measly game 2. It wants the drama of a game 7. Calling it: Flames in 7

Tough. No other way to say it. I have no idea how they haven't got the split. Refs? Maybe curse? Maybe.
I think it is a mix of everything. Tough being a fan of this team, but I love front ofthe jersey way too much to give up.
We're in tough but hey lets see what happens next week. We could be in the drivers seat or eliminated. Either way I'll keep cheering.
Like I said I am a bit lost. A 8-2 loss would have been easier that the way these losses went down.
