Trying to play that way is Duck's hockey, and is precisely why we lose every game against them at home. He play exactly into their type of game and they always come out on top.
Time for the Flames to skate circles around them and put that skill to use. Make them pay for each penalty they take (easier said then done). Use our speed to speed through the neutral zone and get zone possession. Basically play to OUR strengths, and not try to emulate what the Ducks are good at.
As shown in the LA game, the Flames aren't a big nasty team yet. Trying to play that kind of game against teams who are built that way is a recipe for a loss. Time for the Flames to impose their will against the Ducks. Not the other way around.

Flames really need this win for their mental game going into the playoffs. Not a fan.

Flames goal, be as ready for the playoffs as possible and do what is best for the team to try and reach their actual goal.
Why is tonight's game any worse than any of the other 3 games to play Johnson in? Playing Johnson in the game or games that give Elliott the optimal amount of play and rest so he's at peak form for game 1 of the playoffs is what the coach should do. I won't pretend to know what that actually is, but I'll give GG, the trainers and Elliott the benefit of the doubt that they are communicating on this one and have a plan.

Game is on Sportsnet 360 and Sportsnet East and Ontario in Canada
The West channel has the Oilers game on regionally
The channel change has happened due to SN1 now showing NBA games.

The Ducks D may be extra thin tonight.
No Lindholm and maybe no Vatanen.
Fowler, Bieksa, Manson, Montour, Theodore, and Holzer are nothing to fear.

It really is crazy that they can throw Fowler, Manson, Montour, Theodore, Lindholm, Bieksa, and Vatanen out there when healthy.
Just a crazy deep d-core.

Same, I feel like his style of play is more suitable for playing the Ducks than say Bouma.

My hate for the Ducks rivals that of the Canucks and Oilers.
Not looking forward to seeing Kesler attack what ever center he is facing right after a faceoff, if he loses it.
I have no idea how he never gets called for his crosschecks, slashes, tackles or headlocks he does right after the puck is dropped, again if he loses the draw.
I wish Giordano would say something to the refs before the game. Something like, "Hey friends, could you please watch what Kesler does on the faceoffs. That would be great. Thank-you for your time."
Honestly, I have no idea how he gets away with his cheap faceoff antics game after game but I have much hate.

I'm sorry guys, I didn't realise it was game day and I wore my Flames hat which has all but guaranteed losses this season.
This ones on me.
