I'll take a helping of some well-deserved crow please! Barbeque Style! I was very vocal of the firing of Gulutzen after that horrid start. Called him Ex-Canucks trash. Boy, am I glad I was wrong.

I wouldn't feel too bad, I started a thread on how the Flames needed to take steps to protect Jokipakka in the expansion draft AND suggested Gio should be exposed in the same thread.

I think this thread needs a couple of these while we take the headphones off and figure this one out:

I also must eat some crow as I wrote us off back in November:

http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showpos...83&postcount=8

At the time we'd lost four in a row, were 4-10-2, miserable defense and brutal special teams numbers.

Now it's playoffs baby!

The three straight losses in January made me question the direction of the team..
one to the Oilers 7-3, then Toronto 4-0 and then the Canadiens 5-1...

i thought the Flames were done at that point...I thought BT was done and GG would be booted with him

little did i know, the famous train ride from MTL to Ottawa basically reversed the entire season for us...

still hard to believe this roll the team has been on...

This is kind of fun and very healing.

I hated the Gulutzan system, I hated Cameron's power play and I wanted them both fired. I openly pined for Bruce Boudreau.

Treliving and Gulutzan had the courage and conviction to stick to their plan. Tip of the cap to both of those men.

I was hard on Gulutzan all season wanting him fired and after sticking up for him before Christmas when people were calling him Hiller 2.0 I finally had enough of Elliott and wanted him traded or not re-signed just before the win streak. Boy did he prove me wrong. lol

Was at that Toronto game too and remember feeling so confused... what a turn around since then, just unbelievable hockey the last 2 months.

Deep fried with some hot and sour please.

I remember having no faith in the team in the first third of the season or so, maybe even longer. Don't think I was ever calling out for anyones head or anything, but still.

What a turnaround.

While I didn't think he should have been fired, I did worry that Gulutzen was going to be the second coming of Dallas Eakins. And for that, I'll gladly eat crow.

I went Toronto Montreal Ottawa on a guys trip to watch the Flames . It was embarrassing to sit and watch our team get smoked in TO and Mtl. I thought our season was over.

at time i remember thinking...

oh, they'll come out strong versus Toronto following the Oilers loss... and following the shutout there, i thought, they'll come hard versus MTL... another bad loss...

3 bad losses, three weak, soft games with zero push back...

pretty hard to believe this is the same team we are watching now...

I was completely wrong about this coaching staff, they have done an amazing job with the team. I was also wrong about Treliving, he's done a great job as well and deserves a contract extension.

Very excited to watch the Flames in the playoffs.

Looked through my post history to see if I ever actually put "fire Gulutzan" into words. Never did apparently, though I definitely thought it at some points. I don't think that anymore.

"Fire Cameron" was definitely expressed by me (hell it was my sig for a time) and I'm still not sold on his PP systems but they're working.

The Flames have been rolling ever since Johnny got his finger broken but yet I still feel that this team can play even better. I'm expecting a real solid playoff run. Should be a great time.

I was more bummed out at the start of the season with the young guys struggling and the team off to such a poor start. Going in I was hoping for a team that would at worst be in the playoff mix in April. But I was expecting Johnny and Sean to struggle as they started making big pay cheques particularly early on. But nowhere to the extent that they were. Particularly Monahan who really looked bad.

After they found a way back into the mix I wasn't as worried. They had that awful 4 game losing streak, but at that point I was thinking how they lost 8 straight in regulation and 9 overall two years ago and still made it. So if they could avoid a 5 game streak they could recover.

But I didn't expect the run they had of late. Elliott found his game, the young guys got back in a groove and they look like a team who deserve to be playoff bound. Even in years like 2007 and 2009 it was easy to be annoyed with the team because of how badly they had played down the stretch.

I was always in Treliving's corner. I must eat some crow because I too, at one point, really thought Gulutzan was our Dallas Eakins. Never been so happy to be so wrong!!!

Gulutzan was always a sharp guy. Started at the bottom and did a great job with the Las Vegas Wranglers and built a reputation. Called it way back.

The 7-3 loss to the Oilers was the lowest point for me as a fan this year. I was absolutely disgusted, calling for Gulutzan's head, and questioning the heart and effort of the players. Pretty sure a lot of us were after that game. At that point I was convinced we'd probably finish bottom 5 and be in contention for the draft lottery.

But man, was I ever wrong. What a brilliant turnaround by this team. Full marks to the players and coaching staff for righting the ship, climbing back up the standings and getting back to where we all hoped they'd be. They figured it out, and now here we are. Headed back to the playoffs for the 2nd time in 3 years with a young, hungry team that has the potential to do some damage.
