Default The Eating Crow Thread

It is time for me to take my lumps.

I was very outspoken and critical of both the Coach and GM. I openly called for the coach to be fired and for the GM to be held accountable.

In particular I did so during the horrible start and I thought the season was over due to the ineffectiveness of the coach and missteps by the GM. I most certainly did not anticipate the coming together of the squad in a way that tied the franchise record for consecutive wins and give credit to the coach for helping orchestrate that environment.

With the Flames clinching the playoffs, this is the ultimate proof that I was flat out wrong. I admit it and, more importantly, owe an apology to Glen Gulatzan and Brad Treliving and their fans. Those who disagreed with me then were right. I was wrong.

I can only hope we catch fire again during the playoffs.

I didn't think there was a snowballs chance in hell this team would make the playoffs after the 5-10-1 start.

Great job Flames.

Future looks bright, and we get playoffs for the 2nd time in 4 years of rebuilding. Amazing.

Calls for Gulutzan to be fired emerged during the first intermission of the Season Opener.

Pass a plate. I thought the pressure would catch up to them and the schedule would work against them. Great job boys. Now, who has the buffalo sauce for that crow?

I gave up during the 4 game blow out streak in January. Didn't watch a game when I had free time which doesn't happen for me normally.

It looked grim at the start of the season. I think everyone had doubts at the beginning, including myself. You'd be a liar if you said you weren't worried!

Yep, first half of the season had me really regretting buying centre ice. Thought the coaching was brutal and the team wasn't getting anywhere this season. Hard to cheer for.
So very glad with how things are working out now.

I will eat some of that crow too. Medium please.

Brad Treliving deserves allot of credit as does Craig Conroy for going on the hike.

Glen stuck to his guns and managed to win over his players to his system.

Good on you for getting us to the playoffs ....wow what a long season .

Ok, I'll come clean, I was making drive-bys about Nolan Patrick during that godawful start to the season when the Flames were 30th for both PP/PK and had gotten blown out by the Oilers twice.

Crow never tasted so good. Credit to Gulutzan, I hated his hiring going into that January stretch of sadness, but I'm glad to be wrong this time.

I was one of the first (and few) to suggest that maybe Gio would be a player we should think about exposing.

Yea.

I was always with Treliving, but vehemently against Gulutzan even as recently as before the all star break, actively hoping that we could land either Juline or Sutter in the off season.

I'll definitely stand up and say I was flat out wrong, without reservation. The worst thing on message boards is people unwilling to admit they may have been wrong, and even worse clearly hoping for a player/coach/GM to falter again so they can feel right about what they originally claimed.

Make mine extra crispy. While I was (for some reason) never critical of Treliving, I was convinced that Gulutzan was going to be a debacle of monumental proportions.

Hoo boy do I ever stand corrected.
