Fair point, but even the title of the thread invites the comments that we are seeing. This thread has been as much about mocking arguments against pedestrian bridges as the bridges themselves.
This bridge, obviously, is different. Public/private partnership is good for the taxpayer, and improvements to vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be nice. I haven't actually heard anyone actually complain about it - seriously, at least.

I used that last year, I am surprised it's closed now. It gave you an opportunity to feel like you were in a completely different town. A scary, stinky town.

I honestly didn't know there was a tunnel there and I've lived here my whole life! It's like learning about the downtown subway all over again. Calgarians don't like being moles apparently.

The design for the Chinook pedestrian bridge is pretty nice. Not sure how well it will match with the mall's façade, which is beginning to look pretty dated, though.
