An extremely large segment of Americans support Trump, what he stands for and what his administration has done thus far. All of the noise around Trump and his team doesn't and won't change that for Americans.

Many of us are hoping that what we've seen in his first few months will some how change the views of Americans but I don't think that will happen. There was enough dirt during his campaign, not to mention things he said explicitly and Americans still elected him in!

America is in trouble and my guess is the international community just slowly distances themselves from the US.

That first segment was great. The part where they showed Ryan's face after Trump said it was time to stop the trivial fights!

The second part with the Dalai Lama was interesting but come on, he won't even speak-out against self-immolation. He is just on the same level as the Pope, in the end in it for himself and the power/money.

That Morning Joe clip is maybe the first I've seen where commentators struck the right tone in delivering a Trump story.

Trump is rejecting Comey's statement of "there were no wiretaps on Trump". He just doesn't accept the statement.

Quote:
President Donald Trump does not accept an assertion from FBI Director James Comey that former President Barack Obama did not order an illegal wiretap of Trump Tower during last year’s presidential campaign, a White House spokeswoman said Monday.

Trump leveled the explosive accusation on Twitter over the weekend, delivering it without any evidence. Through a spokesman, Obama has flatly denied the charge, as has James Clapper, the former director of national intelligence under Obama. White House officials have yet to offer any proof to back Trump’s claim, instead suggesting that the matter should be investigated.

And while Comey has not publicly addressed Trump’s allegation, multiple media outlets have reported that he asked the Department of Justice to knock down the president’s accusation because it suggests that the FBI broke the law by carrying out the alleged wiretap.

Asked by ABC “Good Morning America” host George Stephanopoulos if Trump was willing to accept the denial of his FBI director, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said he was not.

Well I guess we know why Spicer hasn't been fired yet: Sarah Huckabee Sanders is the deputy press secretary. The last two days she has been even worse than any of Spicer's bad performances. That seems to be the theme of the Trump White House, as long as someone even worse is waiting in the wings, you'll probably keep your job.

Most of the web traffic seems to be about how Comey should resign or be fired by Trump. Most of them seem to recognize that if any wiretapping had taken place, it was through a court process (many seem to mention FISA courts), but don't to understand that this makes it completely legal and aligns with the national security system that exists (the merits and drawbacks of which these people are entirely unequipped to understand). It is somehow scandalous for a law enforcement organization to seek a warrant from a Court, apparently. They do not get it, and think that because Trump has expressed outrage at the FBI, the FBI must have been doing something wrong.

The meteor can hit any time now.

One of the fixed contradictions of the strongman ethos is that he and his followers must always play the victim, even when holding power.

I actually found that ridiculous. She was ruining the gravity of the segment by playing it up. There is legitimate issues to discuss in that conversation, you don't need to interject with how scared you are. Please just continue to be a serious journalist and hammer the facts.

I agree it's obnoxious - she isn't a journalist though, so this doesn't apply. Actually, I'm pretty sure Mika's purpose there is to reassure the Rachel Maddow crowd who might want to watch news in the morning that "Don't worry, even though Joe Scarborough is a Republican (maybe kinda sorta not really anymore), we're still your news channel". She's there to give it that left-wing "Fox & Friends" flavour. Still, all the content is obviously right.

Ah, I wasn't aware of what her role is because I'm not too familiar with the show. It's unfortunate that they feel the need to have that piece of the puzzle on that show then, because it was legitimately annoying to have that happening while an important issue was being discussed.

Ban Round 2

President Trump on Monday signed a revised version of his executive order banning migrants from predominantly Muslim nations, removing Iraqi citizens from the original travel ban at the urging of the State and Defense departments.

The order, which comes about a month after federal judges blocked Mr. Trump’s haphazardly implemented ban in January on residents from seven Middle Eastern and African countries, was delayed for about a week as the White House sought to better coordinate its activities with federal agencies.

It was also pushed back to maximize its public relations impact, according to three administration officials.

The timing of the ban is intended to reset the White House political narrative, after a tumultuous week that began with a well-received address to a joint session of Congress. That was overshadowed quickly by the controversies over the failure of Attorney General Jeff Sessions to inform the Senate of his contacts with a Russian diplomat and of Mr. Trump’s unsupported accusation that President Barack Obama tried to wiretap his phones during the 2016 campaign.
