Don't forget Carter went to CLB first. Then met up with Richards a year or two after their departure from PHI.

He was traded to LA at the deadline after playing only 39 games in Columbus. That was the year LA won their first Cup (and two years after Philly went to the Finals with Carter and Richards).

What would be Iginla's value in a trade? He couldn't be worth much more than a mid-round pick, could he?

Personally I don't see many reasons not to pick him up if it's on the cheap. Even in the twilight of his career he would be as good an option on the RW as we have in the entire system.

To me, Iginla at this stage is useless to any Stanley Cup contender. He's slow and drifts a lot. Neither here nor there. I'm sure he can help a team needing some so-called leadership, but as a player, he's forth line material. If Sakic got a 4th rounder for him it'd be an overpayment IMO.

People aren't saying give Bennett away, but a team always needs to be looking to improve and properly evaluate there players.
 |
If Backlund is one of your 3 best players you're probably a borderline playoff team (like the Flames currently are with Backlund as the leading point getter). If Backlund is one of your 3 best centers that's a totally different situation.
Love Bennett, love Gaudreau, but Barkov is better than either one of them.

I'd argue that you haven't been watching him play. I've watched his last 6 games now (plus the ones Vs Calgary - which I know isn't a crazy amount), calling him slow is simply untrue. The entire Avs team is a disaster, and its impacting all of their play. Iggy has some game left in him in my opinion, and when he gets away from the Avs, it'll show.

I just had a look at Sharp thinking he may be a cheap acquisition and it would be interesting to reunite some more of the original Blackhawks...but man has he fallen off a cliff. Now 35 years old and it's not just that he only has 13 points in 33 games, but he is also -17 including -8 I the last 5 games.
Has anyone here seen much of him lately? I suspect he will get dealt at the deadline, but I don't think the receiving team will be that happy...

Carolina claimed the 24-year-old winger on waivers from St. Louis on Jan. 4, and a night later he dressed for the Canes against his former team. Over the last six-and-a-half weeks with the Hurricanes, Rattie has played in five games and recorded two assists and has been a healthy scratch in 12 contests. | |

We can't know.

 But we do know this:

 1) they haven't won any without them, and

 2) the last time they went to the cup finals was with them

so what exactly is your point?

Does Rattie finally get reunited with Baertschi??
 Any interest from our perspective??

Healthy scratch 12 of 17 is pretty brutal, kinda seems like we have that already in F. Hamilton but Rattie's style is more of a skilled type game.

More like Larkin for Bennett.

Both having off years and value is similar.

For the record in no way do I want us to trade Bennett, I think he's a more dimensional Backlund when he matures and we need to give him time.

Cammalleri is a healthy scratch for NJ today. 30 points in 51 games, currently in a cold streak goal-wise.
I'd love Cammy back on this team if NJ retained salary. His sniping ability really is a skill that we don't have on the team.

Cammy has 5 points in his last 10 games. Not good, but not bad either.I'm surprised he's a healthy scratch, even without the goals.
