If reports coming out of Japan are any indication, Trump also personally encouraged Japan to closer ties with Russia as part of his past meeting pushing Shinzo Abe to open new dialogue with Putin despite knowing all of this. It's goes all the way to the top and well into parts of the GOP.

Consequences? I think there needs to be a lot more scandal and grassroots anger/protests before enough Republicans turn against their party. Lets hope the press continues what they are doing.

When this all comes crashing down, what will happen to Chaffetz? He has planned another Benghazi hearing and further probe into Clinton emails, but nothing on this

Gotta love seeing Russia jump to the defense of Flynn. If that doesn't scream there is something running much deeper in this administration then nothing does. Also, Japan suggesting that Trump requested Abe to get closer to Russia certainly stinks to high heaven. Talk about a total provocation of China in the making! Trump is a buffoon and he is destroying American credibility around the globe.

I have to wonder who he is blaming here. Does "Washington" refer to people in his entourage, people in his party, the press, democrats or just an imaginary bogeyman?
|
"Washington" in this instance is clearly a bone he throws to his base. They then parrot around that the he couldnt do anything because "Washington" prevents him from doing it.
Things like these only solidify my thinking that his base is so far out of touch with reality that all he as to do is put buzzwords together and they'll eat it up. It doesn't have to make sense, it just needs to contain buzzwords.

Sorry, but as much as you want to pretend, the president is not infallible. Telling us what he said doesn't matter.

Seems like a stand-up fella and serious about his job. I guess Flynn and Petraeus did too at some point, but still, he's a guy who has been in wars and was responsible for people's lives and his main motivation seems to be the good of the United States and not political scheming. Hopefully. The more people around Trump like that, the better, obviously.
Also, he wrote this article:

This looks like a good pick based on this minimal amount of info. The Huff Post article would indicate he would balance the misogyny in the White House. Also, I like the fact he was in spec ops. A lot easier to send men into harms way if you have been there yourself.

She looks like she hasn't slept in months. Must be stressful spending your days spinning the words of a delusional narcissist. I think Spicy is the next to go, and it might have a LOT to do with SNL

Am ready to watch Trump/Trudeau press conference on mute. Because, well, I can't stand listening to Trump. But I do like looking at Trudeau.

Things are about to get interesting. Even if Donald knows nothing, the scrutiny is going to antagonize him.

37 mental health professionals/social workers pen letter to NYT. Perhaps nothing, perhaps something. Interesting, to a degree.

Dr. Dodes is a retired assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Schachter is a former chairman of the Committee on Research Proposals, International Psychoanalytic Association. The letter was also signed by 35 other psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers.
|
To the Editor:
Charles M. Blow (column, nytimes.com, Feb. 9) describes Donald Trump’s constant need “to grind the opposition underfoot.” As mental health professionals, we share Mr. Blow’s concern.
Silence from the country’s mental health organizations has been due to a self-imposed dictum about evaluating public figures (the American Psychiatric Association’s 1973 Goldwater Rule). But this silence has resulted in a failure to lend our expertise to worried journalists and members of Congress at this critical time. We fear that too much is at stake to be silent any longer.
Mr. Trump’s speech and actions demonstrate an inability to tolerate views different from his own, leading to rage reactions. His words and behavior suggest a profound inability to empathize. Individuals with these traits distort reality to suit their psychological state, attacking facts and those who convey them (journalists, scientists).
In a powerful leader, these attacks are likely to increase, as his personal myth of greatness appears to be confirmed. We believe that the grave emotional instability indicated by Mr. Trump’s speech and actions makes him incapable of serving safely as president. (from the above 2, and 35 other individuals)
|
And somehow, this also seems to fit Trump. He needs to stop eating Alphabet soup & Alphagetti before tweeting.

So the GOP is claiming Flynn gate is over and there will be no investigation?
But emails and Benghazi...
The people need to tear these scumbags away from office.

John Oliver touched on the fact the his base is getting their news from sources like Breitbart and Info Wars. In this context Trump seems perfectly sane and rational and is the first politician to ever speak the truth.

Russia has secretly deployed a new cruise missile despite complaints from American officials that it violates a landmark arms control treaty that helped seal the end of the Cold War, administration officials say.
The move presents a major challenge for President Trump, who has vowed to improve relations with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia and to pursue future arms accords.
The new Russian missile deployment also comes as the Trump administration is struggling to fill key policy positions at the State Department and the Pentagon — and to settle on a permanent replacement for Michael T. Flynn, the national security adviser who resigned late Monday. Mr. Flynn stepped down after it was revealed that he had misled the vice president and other officials over conversations with Moscow’s ambassador to Washington.
The ground-launched cruise missile at the center of American concerns is one that the Obama administration said in 2014 had been tested in violation of a 1987 treaty that bans American and Russian intermediate-range missiles based on land.
