They might pay for a premiere coach, but they would probably also make him the GM like they did with Sutter.

Will Julien make the Flames goaltenders better? Unless he does, he won't be able to fix the biggest problem on the team.

Flames are in a playoff spot, kinda hard to fire a coach when it boils down to weak goaltending. I doubt Julien would want to come to Calgary but that's just my two cents. He'll receive offers to stay in the Eastern Conference no doubt. How well would he do in the Western Conference is the question.

I would like to see him as a change for Gulutzan. How was Julien's relationship with Hamilton?

Wow expected this to happen in the off-season. Flames are about to miss out on another good coach. I can already see it Flames stick with GG we miss the playoffs, GG gets fired in the off-season when nobody is available hahaha.

You have to hire the best coach you can out of what is available and stick with him otherwise it sets a bad precedent. Its tough to just ditch GG. But man, there are some superb coaches available that this team could use.

Hey, Chiarelli and Lucic made their way to Alberta, why not Julien.

With the break looming, bringing in CJ now would have the lowest negative impact. Gives the guys a few days to get used to the idea, away from the rink.

Actually they got bumped out last night and could find themselves 4 points out of WC2 by the end of today.

And this is unrelated to my comment, just leaving this here for comparison sake as it might be relevant to the coaching discussion.

Well that changes everything, I give the go-ahead on the firing of GG. Bring in Julien.

Not happening. GG has been fine IMO. Julien would be great if we had a vacancy though.

If the Flames lose tonight they could be in a bad spot come next Monday. Bringing in a new coach over the break gives them a mini training camp of 5 days before the last push.

Now you have 25 or so games left for the players to learn the system before the season ends. When 2017-2018 training camp starts they should be ready off the get go you would think..

As much as I want Julien or Hitchcock, it just seems so cold-blooded to fire a coach mid-season who's doing ok in most respects, and has improved many of the team's shortcomings from a year ago. To fire a guy who is doing exactly what was asked of him seems disingenuous, and I think it would reflect poorly on the Flames management group to do something like that without good cause.

Now if you can get Julien as a "special advisor" or some other bull#### title, just to get him into the franchise, do it ASAP.

Unfortunately for us, the Canucks make a lot of sense for Julien. They're only a few months away from Willie D's contract coming up and may just decide to pounce early.

Gulutzan is clearly not the answer here but I can't see Brad bailing on him this early without putting his own job on the line. "The process" is going to hurt us here.

It's funny how many are complaining Boudreau wasn't hired. IIRC, the opinions on CP were about 70-30 against hiring him and going for a younger guy.

On Julien, I guess the question is why the Bruins are floundering and why they haven't made the POs in the last 2.5 years.

Trading away guys like Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamilton for magic beans, and other great moves, probably has something to do with it.
