Hire him. Even as an assistant to start. Just get him.

While I hope Gulutzan gets canned and Julien is hired as his replacement, I don't think it's going to happen unfortunately.

I'm not getting my hopes up.

Boston fired the wrong guy, that is just a badly built roster.

@Real_ESPNLeBrun: Julien has this year and next left on his contract paying him $2.5 million this season and $3 million next year

@frank_seravalli: Julien's firing reeks of dysfunction. After months as talking point and rumored owner involvement, it's done on morning of Super Bowl parade

Almost like they know this will be unpopular in Boston...

@NHL_AaronWard: Bruins last game Saturday, next is Thursday but fire Coach today..parade day. Odd presser is only 30 mins after parade start. Good Luck CJ!

As much as I want CJ to be the Flames coach, it's never going to happen. BT has made his bed with Gully and there's no way the owners are going to pay 3 head coaches.

Bruins are spineless for doing it during the Super Bowl parade.

Maybe he has run his course but I believe the performance of that team is more indicative of the overall talent of the roster not the coach. It's a shame the Flames are going to lose out on another quality head coach capable of taking this franchise where it wants to go but I just can't see Treliving firing his guy a season into his tenure. The Gulutzan hire was really unfortunate for this franchise as he's not the answer and the organization is going to waste two seasons proving that.

so hitchcock as the replacement?

Eklund has been blabbing about an eastern conference team looking to make a coaching change with hitch as the replacement for the past few days.....

Not trying to beat a dead horse but thats how I feel too. Owners will spend to the cap on players but they will not overspend on coaches. Even though I'm sure the money they owe Hartley and Gulutzan could be added to Julien's salary and still be reasonable. Babcock territory.

Has anybody ever answered the question how one of the best coaches can't be paid at least as much as your 5th best player?

If the Flames would have offered $4.65 million to Boudreau three things likely would have happened, our record would be much better, our system would have been more offensive/exciting and Gaudreau wouldn't have broke his finger!

Where did this rumor come from? I have heard some posters here suggest that but nothing from any other source to indicate that was the case. I have a hard time believing the owners could be this shortsighted after clowning around with coaches for a decade before seeing a top shelf coach in Darryl Sutter turned the fortunes of the organization around. If any team should know that coaches matter it should be the Flames where their only successes as an organization have been tied to great head coaches.

I'd rather Hitch as opposed to Julien myself. I don't like how Julien always seems to be whining.
