Read again. I disagree that Monahan is likely to become more physically involved (using your words), at least in any significant way.. If you want to discuss that topic please provide some evidence or examples. Otherwise don't bother please.

lol, I shouldn't bother?

Maybe we can start arguing about what your definition of significant means.

Now that you've had the breakthrough and understand what's being said, I really couldn't care less that you don't agree. I wasn't trying to convince you of anything other than the fact you were being deliberately obtuse.

You seem to be the one so put off someone's suggesting otherwise.
Dumfounded me? If you want to gain weight/fillout you need a surplus of calories. If you think 5 years from now when he's 27 his body type has transformed you're sadly mistaken. He's probably around 200lbs today. Are you a suggesting he's magically going to pack on another 20lbs? Not possible unless he's eating a surpless of calories. These guys aren't meal prep types.

No, I was implying (as I have been since my first post) that he's just now (around 22) filled out into his frame and may begin to start using it more effectively moving forward. Not that he's going to start juicing and end up monstrous.

But ever since you tossed out the "his stick is a magic wand he uses to avoid contact" bit (which did a nice job of making all your posts sound like they're written in that crazy Adam Sandler voice) I think it's pretty clear this topic isn't worth discussing with you. You made it pretty clear where you stand on the matter.

In his last 86 games, Monahan has 31 goals, including 7 game winners.

While Monahan's goal production has remained consistent, what is also exciting to see is his steady improvement in possession metrics.

2013-14 42.82 CF%
2014-15 45.05
2014-16 47.90
2015-16 50.65

I think a big part is his consistent improvement in faceoffs year-to-year. He's really gotten better.

Yes, I agree. I too am a huge fan of anything that can produce an increase in CalgaryFlames%.

the possession increases are probably 65% linemate improvement and 35% player improvement. but it would be my dream that one day he wakes up and decides he's Canadian Kopitar. 70ish points at most, but controls the flow of play from one goal line to the other.

Zone starts likely play a role too:

2014-15 - OZ Starts 47.4%
2015-16 - OZ Starts 55.3%
2016-17 - OZ Starts 63.0%

But regardless of that, I think he looks like he's pushing play north far better than before. His zone exits and puck carrying through the neutral zone have improved drastically IMO. If he can be a bit more assertive when gaining the zone I think his possession game will really take off.

To me the increase in his OZ starts is just related to the year over year increases in both faceoff % and possession #'s -- I think too if you looked at the times of the game he's taking DZ faceoffs it would be the nail-biting times during the games. It just makes sense to have your most offensive center who's great at faceoffs/possession taking the bulk of his starts in the offensive zone.
