Tonight's line-up ought to be:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Bennett
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Bouma - Stajan - Brouwer
Versteeg - Hamilton - Ferland

Giordano - Hamilton
Kulak - Brodie
Wideman - Engelland

Johnson
Elliott

Yeah, echoing what Rhett was saying on the Fan 960 - but Gulutzan needs to start making smart decisions with the lineup...or...whatever, don't. I sincerely hope the Gulutzan era is nearing an end.

I'd rather see Bennett and Gaudreau flipped as I suspect Gaudreau is more adaptable.

A shake up eh,
IMO the first thing Treliving should do is Fire Dave Cameron. He is expendable to me at this point, Gelinas can move back down to the bench and someone has to take the fall for the mostly crappy special teams.
Just seems to me like there may be "too many cooks" and I would like to give my guy (Gulatzan) the chance to work without that extra voice in his ear. Then again I didn't really like that hire in the first place.

i don't mind it, but stajan is barely a 4th line center let alone playing in a team's top 9.. bring up jankowski, move stajan down to the 4th line, and get f. hamilton to the press box, to the heat, anywhere.

oh and switch ferland/bouma.

If they don't call someone up maybe a trade. Coach should be fired but that won't happen

Those calling for massive callups need to account for the 23 man roster, the few players who are waiver exempt, and what players you could expose to make room.

The team is at the 23 man maximum. To bring guys up, you need to send some down. Only Tkachuk, Bennett and Kulak are waiver exempt. I doubt any except maybe Kulak would be demotions.

So who would you expose to the waiver wire to experiment with Poirier, Klimchuk, Shinkaruk, Mangiapane, Jankowski, Rittich, etc? Who are we willing to lose for nothing in the hopes that those guys will pan out right away?

Rest Johnny tonight, the guy is beat to crap and I think he needs a maintenance night.

Run with an extra defenseman.

It passes on two messages

First of all, its why we can't have nice things, because you guys don't take very good care of it

Second, your work ethic lately has been dog poop, so frankly we're going to take the best part of the team away and your going to have to work your butts off to make up for that.

This team needs to cut bait with the hopes of the playoffs this year and realize the rebuild is still on. Our best players have struggled, there are too many passenger depth guys, and we don't have the goaltending. If BT had job security and knew he was going to be around for the long haul I would feel a lot better he would realize this but he doesn't so I think he will do nothing and stay the course and see how it unfolds which is bad for us. As the Flames fall out of the playoff race and I think they will I would like to see the following.

1. I don't think GG is going anywhere this year so I won't address that because there is no point.

2. Put Giordano's name out there and see what is offered. He is an older vet, still a good player, and could really help a contender. He is also the Captain so by moving him you are changing the culture of the leadership. See if a team is willing to move a high end D prospect back in return. It would also open up some serious cap. Don't sell low though.

3. Put Troy Brouwer's name out there. He has a solid playoff rep and he is not working here. There is a good chance a contending team would be interested.

4. Obviously Wideman will be offered out there and has been for a long time now. Hope some team is desperate enough to want him. Take any pick/prospect.

5. Offer Engelland as a rental. He won't be back anyhow, probably Vegas bound in the off season. Take any pick/prospect.

6. See if anyone wants Elliott. Maybe St. Louis wants him back for their run.

7. Try and move any of the plugs for whatever. Bouma, Ferland, F. Hamilton, Stajan, and Chiasson should all be moved if possible. Give some of our young AHL guys a chance in their spot.

8. Guys off the table should be Gaudreau, Monahan, Brodie, Hamilton, Tkachuk, Backlund, Frolik, and Bennett.

That is not full blown tank, next to Gio not one of the guys I advocated moving is contributing anything. That is moving out dead weight to give some of our younger guys a chance and fixing some of the issues with this team. If the teams behind us win even some of the games in hand and we continue on the path we currently are, staying the course will still put us as a bottom five team.

This team needs a Nolan Patrick. I am against tanking but that kid would do wonders for the Flames.

Back to the Gio being traded, does anyone have cap room for him?

And ruin his confidence? Keep him in the AHL for now. This team is way too fragile right now.

Why? He has not been very good at the AHL level, why destroy his psyche playing for this group?

Nolan Patrick or Nico Hischier

Gaudreau - Patrick - Bennett

Or

Gaudreau - Monahan - Hischier

Would make me happy again.

I'm not very confident in how they will spend it. At least we know Bennett won't be eating up too much of it.
