The Warrener rant is entertaining, but it doesn't reek of intelligence. Most of his suggestions are "go smash someone in the mouth", and the rest of it is just benching guys that are disappointing. If he had his way half the lineup would be benched and the team would be taking even more penalties than they already are. The NHL has changed Rhett...

Re: Warrener
I think its the fire with which its delivered that stands out. He seems to give a ##### which is what many people are accusing the players and coaches of not giving these days.

You were down 3-0 after 5 minutes and 6-1 after 40 minutes, who cares if you take a couple of penalties against your provincial rival.

Rhett is right they should have went out and played with some edge, and threw some body checks and ran some people.

Don't just give up and play out the last 20 minutes like nothing is wrong. What the hell else are Bouma, Ferland, Brouwer, etc on this roster for if they are not going to play physical.

Well there's your shakeup. Nice false leak to Friedman that finds its way into the dressing room to motivate the team. Done.

Honestly I would love some youthful energy in our forward groups.

Enough of placeholders like F.Hamilton, Chiasson, etc that have no long term spots on this team.

Hamilton and Chiasson get to go to Stockton. Put Ferland on the IR since I don't think he's 100%. Poirier, Jankowski, and Klimchuk are 3 former first rounders, let see if they have what it takes long term.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Versteeg (Versteeg is the closest player to Hudler 2 seasons ago on the roster)
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik (What hasn't been said about this line already)
Poirier - Bennett - Brouwer (Poirier is speedy and physical, lets see if he can wake Bennett up)
Klimchuk - Jankowski - Bouma/Stajan (See if Klimchuk & Jankowski can carry over their chemistry to the NHL)

On the backend you need to get Brodie on the right side and try to get him going. Also time to see if Wotherspoon or Kulak can sink or swim at the NHL level.

Giordano - Brodie
Wotherspoon - Hamilton
Kulak - Engelland

Wideman and Jokipakka can spend a day in the press box.

Issue is this team got made the playoffs too early in the re-build and forgot that we were supposed to be giving young guys a shot. Let's get some youth back in the line up, at least if we miss the playoffs then we know it wasn't because we were relying on Freddie Hamilton and Alex Chiasson.

Rhett should be a coach. Start him in the AHL and groom this guy to be a future head coach or assistant. I felt motivated by his words and I'm only a fan haha

Make a big trade as long as it addresses a weakness:

1. goal tending
2. second pair defense
3. top RW

Use the C and D position depth to get it done.

The team does not need a shakeup. They need a good verbal serve after losing a couple on the trot, especially that 7-3 eyesore.

This is a team that has recovered from a poor start, fought into a playoff spot, and remains in a spot (for now) and still i the mix if they get overtaken.

Ideally, settling Gaudreau, Monahan and Bennett into regular lines would help - look at the Backlund line for an example of the benefit of keeping a unit together and building chemistry.

But making a big trade now doesn't make sense, especially if it impacts the expansion draft protection or involves the 1st round pick. That pick should not be moved until the Flames know where it is, and a bubble team doesn't know that until the lottery/elimination from playoffs. Getting a good RW that fits this core would be great for a pick in the teens, but not for a high lottery pick

Put Gaudreau with Backlund & Frolik for awhile to improve his game.

I'm with you about 90%...

I'd leave Chiasson/Hamilton in the lineup but plonk them on the RW of the 4th line.

I'd leave Janko on the farm for the full season if possible because he's flying in the AHL and doesn't need to stagnate playing minimal minutes in the 4th line. Let him fully adjust to the pros.

Poirier hasn't done much to deserve a call-up. Shinkaruk hasn't done much more, but he's done a job before and plays with speed & hunger.

Gaudreau Monahan Versteeg

Tkachuk Backlund Frolik

Klimchuk/Shinkaruk Bennett Brouwer

Bouma Stajan Chiasson/Hamilton

And if someone can patch up all the holes and gaps in Elliott & Johnson's equipment it would really help team morale (and their GAA). Goalies can't be letting in goals like bouncers let in 19-year-olds in crop tops.

Agreed. He's pissed because the Flames have shown no pride or team toughness in the biggest games of the season. As fans we can only hope that some of these messages are filtering through to the players.

The Monahan - Nugent-Hopkins thing really stands out and it's nice to hear someone else say what we're all thinking.

I agree with Rhett's rant for the most part. I can take the Flames losing, if we are not talented enough to win that is fine, but the lack of effort or just plain "give a damn" is disheartening. If they don't care enough to put in a solid effort, I can find better things to do with my time than yell at the TV for 3 hours.

If I was Treliving I would send a real hard message to these players. Bouma, Chiasson, Jokipaka to the AHL (if they want to play in the NHL next year they have to start showing they care). Jankawski, Klimchuk, and Wotherspoon called up (Andersson and Kylington still too young). Wideman and Ferland in the PressBox for a few weeks. I think we are stuck with our goalies, maybe trade Elliot back to the Blues in return for our pick back.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Versteeg
Frolik - Backlund - Tkachuk
Klimchuk - Jankowski - Bennett
F. Hamilton - Stajan - Brouwer
Hathaway

Giordano - Hamilton
Brodie - Kulak
Engelland - Wotherspoon
