It has been a rough go for the red snake. It has only acquired 5 points in the last 6 games, with a 2-3-1 record. With 49 points in 46 games the red snake is on pace for 87 points on the year. In order to hit 96 points at the end of the year, the red snake must average 1.306 PPG over the final 36 games. A record of 23-12-1 would get it done. They need almost 2/3 of the points remaining to them.
The red snake is currently 4.854 points below the black line, the furthest it has been since the completion of game #35. It would take a 6 game win streak to be above the black line. The Flames have six games remaining through the end of January, all in Canada. Their opponents are:
vs. Florida (20-17-8) FLA plays in Edmonton the next night
vs. Nashville (20-16-7) NSH plays in Edmonton the next night
vs. Edmonton (24-15-7) EDM's 2nd night of back to back (home)
at Toronto (20-13-8)
at Montreal (27-12-6) CGY's 2nd night of back to back
at Ottawa (22-15-4)
The red snake is right in the middle of the purple and green snakes, with 4 points separating them from both the top and bottom snakes. It's game day, so let's make the red snake rise.

The game day snake is back. The red snake closed the gap to the black line to 4.024 points. It is 2 points below the green snake and 6 points above the purple snake. There are 2 big points up for grabs tonight against Nashville, who was shut out 1-0 against Vancouver on Tuesday.

So long as the red snake stays above the purple snake this season can be considered at least a small success. Any improvement is a positive.
No. This year's average goaltending should have the snake much closer to the green one than the purple one considering how many points were thrown away by Hiller and co. last season.
On top of that, the core is a year older, and Tkachuk and Brouwer were added. This team should be doing significantly better than last year. If this year's snake does not significantly outgrow last year's then a serious problem should be evident.

Agreed. I think it's reasonable to believe had Hartley been retained with this goaltending that the Flames would have easily eclipsed last season.

As terrible as last seasons goaltending was the defensive play and system was just as bad. Our goalies this year would be worse with last year's team defense.
