A guy I've known for 35 years was beaten half to death by the VPD. He had fallen asleep at his work station, he's a cook. They got the wrong address, accused him of breaking in and beat the #### out of him. He's a white guy.
Looking at the description of the youtube video, the uploader has included a bunch of observations about the protesters and what they're saying and wearing, including "Blue lives ain't real" signs, calls to violence against police and the general theme that cops are the enemy, rather than an institution whose internal culture needs reform.
I wish I was surprised.

Yeah I watched part of that demonstration as it was streaming yesterday. The popular chant was "no justice, no peace, no racists and **** the police." Missed that part where they segregated their supporters however.
BLM needs to be viewed positively by the general public to bring about tangible change within said public. Support has to come from all demographics, not just the black community. Once again BLM finds a way to shoot themselves in the foot.

The deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, two black men killed by police officers last week, have sent a wave of mourning across America. What makes these deaths even more painful is that they could have been prevented by Stuart Farren, a 43-year-old Indianapolis resident who after diligent consideration has figured out exactly how black Americans should act when confronted by police officers. Sadly, although Farren possesses the secrets for how black people can survive police encounters, he tragically has no black friends with whom he can share his wisdom.
BLM probably started with good intentions, but like a lot of these movements we've seen pop up in recent years, they get co-opted by others who have a different agenda or goals than the initial purpose of the group. So while BLM may have started as a group to raise awareness of the treatment of blacks by police and to increase political pressure, it's sort of devolved into more of an anti-police group.

The Following User Says Thank You to Senator Clay Davis For This Useful Post:
Black Lives Matter protesters chained themselves to tarmac this morning blocking a key route leading to Heathrow airport at the height of the summer holiday season.
The Toronto chapter of the Black Lives Matter group staged a sit-in last summer that halted the Pride parade for nearly 30 minutes. They had asked for nine demands to be met, one of which included a ban on police at future events. The membership voted on Tuesday to endorse all of the demands
“The Toronto Police have had a presence in the Pride parade for more than a decade and continue to make meaningful efforts to build bridges with the LGBTQ2S community,” he said.
“With respect to police participation in the Pride parade, I am hopeful that people of goodwill can find a way to resolve this issue and to ensure that we can continue to build those vitally important bridges.”
Gwen Bartleman, a Pride member who was at the AGM, asked that the Black Lives Matter demands be added to the agenda.
“I have seen how racism and specifically anti-black racism works in certain organizations, like Pride Toronto. Demands are agreed to, then there is backtracking, and then they aren’t actually met,” Bartleman said. “I wanted to make sure that didn’t happen.”
“Police are part of a larger system that is inherently racist and preys upon and enacts violence upon marginalized and vulnerable communities,” Bartleman said. “To have them present at Pride is a show of force and it’s something that makes many, many members of my community feel uncomfortable.”
Those quotes are outrageous. Why does a BLM chapter even exist in Toronto, their antics already got cops killed in Dallas and they're trying to bring their divisive schtick here
