that dude is trolling you guys so hard. people like him are the reason that the 'i dont want to live on this planet anymore' threads exist. he is just going to dig in until everyone else gives up. thats why the NRA always wins. they are the energizer bunnies of lobbyists. doesn't matter what everyone else thinks, doesn't matter what the facts and research says, just matters that they keep repeating themselves over and over; louder and louder.

Personally I think anyone who publically proclaims they prefer a gun to a nice piece of ass is a weirdo.

But what if I just want to cut my grilled cheese with a pistol??

Swiss cheese.
I usually get it without any holes. If I want something quick and easy, without planning, I grab my shotgun and spray holes everywhere. But the real trick is using a hand gun. I would put it up there with the sous vide cooking thingys that really make the flavour of cheese come alive. I get to choose how many holes, where, what angle, etc. Honestly, I cant even go back to store bought swiss cheese any more.

No mass shooting, just another example of the debacle that is Murica and it's guns.
Quote:
She called the police. Then ATF. After that, the FBI.
Janet Delana was desperate to stop her mentally ill adult daughter from buying another handgun.
Finally, Delana called the gun shop a few miles from her home, the one that had sold her daughter a black Hi-Point pistol a month earlier when her last disability check had arrived.
The next check was coming.
Delana pleaded.
Her daughter had been in and out of mental hospitals, she told the store manager, and was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic. She had tried to kill herself. Her father had taken away the other gun, but Delana worried that her daughter would go back.
“I’m begging you,” Delana said through tears. “I’m begging you as a mother, if she comes in, please don’t sell her a gun.”
|
Quote:
“Something like what I bought last time,” Colby Sue Weathers said to the manager, Derrick Dady.
She seemed nervous, he would recall to police.
Weathers had a diagnosis of mental illness, but she had never been identified as a threat to herself or others by a judge or ordered to an extended mental hospital stay — which meant she could pass the background check for her gun.
The Hi-Point pistol and one box of ammunition cost Weathers $257.85 at the Odessa Gun & Pawn shop on the main drag of the small Missouri town about 40 miles east of Kansas City.
Weathers headed back to the house the 38-year-old shared with her parents, stopping for a pack of unfiltered cigarettes along the way at a gas station. A firefighter who was an old acquaintance saw her acting skittishly and muttering.
An hour after leaving the gun store, Weathers was back home where her father sat at a computer with his back to her.
She shot.
Weathers planned to kill herself next but told a 911 operator: “I can’t shoot myself. I was going to after I did it, but I couldn’t bring myself to it.”
Delana lost Tex, her husband of nearly 40 years, and her daughter, who was charged with murder. And beneath her anguish, Delana seethed.
The store had made about $60 profit on the sale, court records would show.

I find this whole narrative of Trumps travel ban, to keep America safe and the urgency of it, because of the immediate dangers, absurd, when you consider guns take 30,000 lives a year. For the most part, as the story above proves anyone can get a gun, usually unvetted.
so
muslim terrorists - 0
guns - 30,000
focus on the muslims. very dangerous, frankly.

I can't remember where I read/heard it, but this one has always stuck with me -
One guy tries to blow up a plane with a bomb in his shoe = we all have to take our shoes off at the airport
Thousands upon thousands of people are shot dead every year = nothing at all happens

Your example doesn't work very well. You remove your shoes, you go through security, then you get your shoes back. Nobody is taking your shoes away...unless you have something that triggers an alarm...like having a bomb in your shoe.

I wasn't arguing that you don't get your shoes back
I was pointing out that some safety measures were immediately implemented when one guy attempted to do something bad, whereas safety measures aren't implemented when thousands of people are shot dead every year. In fact, safety measures are argued against by certain sections of their population.

There is a safety measure though, you get your own gun and defend yourself!

Get what your saying...and my point wasn't to remind you that you get your shoes back, figured you knew that but that there are safety measures for buying guns as well.
One can argue as to how effective they are...

Well, how many shoe bombs has there been since then? Gun control is a much more nuanced issue. Certainly you cannot take one into the cabin. Which was not always the case, so that is a step forward.

I think his point was that the reaction/restrictions to terrorist threats vs homegrown gun violence are completely disproportionate to the human cost of each.
Can you imagine the reaction if 9/11 happened every month?
Surprise: you don't have to. Nearly that many people are killed every month in the U.S.
But they talk about banning Muslims, attacking Islam, protecting everyone from the terrorists... and let their own (much more serious and deadly) issue fester on.

domestic disputes + guns. always a great combination
Quote:
WESTON, Wis. — A police officer and three other people were shot and killed when a domestic dispute at a bank escalated into shootings at three locations in northern Wisconsin on Wednesday, investigators said. A suspect was in custody.
The shootings happened at a bank, a law firm and an apartment complex, where officers, including a SWAT team, had a standoff with the suspect for several hours before ending in a volley of gunfire around 5 p.m.

Maybe the States does need an annual purge where for 24 hours everything goes. I mean its pretty much happening now spread out over 365 days a year.
