The only way that you'll take away my Stirling silver butter knife is if you pry it from my cold dead hands.

No, only by eliminating every knife in a household would you eliminate the potential for knife crime. Dropping form 10 knives to one knife wouldn't do any good. But this is reductio ad absurdum here...

This argument about knives is a distraction and a waste of time...

Well of course you will never eliminate it completely, but it we ban certain types of knives that no one needs, have a licencing system, and stiffer laws surrounding transport and use, surely we can lower the homicides by knife number no?

You are attempting to make a point that knives should be institutionally controlled because they are dangerous...in a thread on mass shootings. And you have a signature fetishizing a machine gun.

Where aren't you saying it?

Knives are already institutionally controlled in Canada. I'm saying it's not enough, if we apply the same control around knives as we do for firearms then we will see a reduction in knife homocides, correct?

Yes, I have a cartoon picture of a m14 variant rifle in my signature. The civilian versions of which are legal and are certainly not machine guns.

I'm not saying what you're implying because I've accepted the amount of controls on firearms here. If I went through the liscencing, registration, medical disclosure, relationship disclosure, and have my name run against a background check everyday, then I must be ok with it.

You want to lower the amount of people murdered, correct? Why the resistance to stricter knife laws such as other countries have enacted? Set it up just like the firearms act and we should have a drop in violent knife crime.

This is the last point I will make about this foolish and distracting argument you are tenaciously proposing. This is not about reducing murders from all sources...this is a conversation about mass shootings...not mass stabbings...not vehicles running into crowds.

There is an obvious (to most people) difference between devices that are designed to serve a practical purpose (food prep; driving) and those that are designed to project killing power as effectively as possible.

You are the only one rambling about knife crime...its time to move on.

You're just being brainwashed by all the knife lobbyists in the governments pocket. Think of how safe you would feel if we finally put restrictions on this killing machine?

Once we ban knives we can focus on to the screwdriver.

Care to post knife murder statistics comparing countries with greater knife restrictions. If this number is meaningfully lower I suspect that we could all get behind your idea that restricting access to the most dangerous types of knives would make sense. We won't eliminate all of the murders but prudent restrictions might make sense.

It seems you are very passionate about knife restrictions so can you start up a new thread and present the relavent data and we can come up with great solutions to implement effective solutions at reducing knife murders.

Agree with GGG. If 2Stonedbirds wants to discuss knife restrictions, please create a new thread.

I heard there's a new gun enthusiast book available on Amazon next month. It claims to get serious about the need for greater gun restrictions.

Firearms: Let's talk about cars and kitchen utensils.

I learned how to kill a man 10 different ways with my bare hands. Is the Guberment going to take away my hands?
