In reality is all a complex system of interconnected policies and global economies that is hard to predict the full impact on a global and macro scale.

In general, economists have come to a consensus over the last 50 years that free trade is a net positive, accounting for all the factors that you can think of.
Not everyone wins on free trade though, but overall on an aggregate level more people win than lose.

Make America Pregnant Again
Apparently the Make America Sick Again line that's been going around about repealing the ACA really got to Trump and prompted the tweets calling Shumer and Democrats clowns and accused Democrats of not working to fix it. Trump needs to read up the history of the ACA and the last 8 years, it's broken because it had to be gutted to get Republicans to vote for it and then they spent all their time trying to repeal or defund it rather than fix it or do any other government work.
Then he says "time for Republicans & Democrats to get together and come up with a healthcare plan that really works". Sad.

All in all, Mexico's....not gonna pay for the wall.
Quote:
President-elect Donald Trump's transition team has signaled to congressional Republican leaders that his preference is to fund the border wall through the appropriations process as soon as April, according to House Republican officials.
The move would break a key campaign promise when Trump repeatedly said he would force Mexico to pay for the construction of the wall along the border, though in October, Trump suggested for the first time that Mexico would reimburse the US for the cost of the wall.
The Trump team argues it will have the authority through a Bush-era 2006 law to build the wall, lawmakers say, but it lacks the money to do so. Transition officials have told House GOP leaders in private meetings they'd like to pay for the wall in the funding bill, a senior House GOP source said.
"It was not done in the Obama administration, so by funding the authorization that's already happened a decade ago, we could start the process of meeting Mr. Trump's campaign pledge to secure the border," Indiana Republican Rep. Luke Messer said on Thursday.
Messer admitted it's "big dollars, but it's a question of priorities." He pointed to a border security bill that Homeland Security Chairman Mike McCaul proposed last year that cost roughly $10 billion.
"Democrats may well find themselves in the position to shut down all of government to stop the buildout of a wall, or of a barrier, or of a fence," Messer said.

Wall better be 100 metres deeps and have soil penetrating motion sensor lasers. Pretty sure the above ground portion is the easy part.
What a time to be alive with Trump taking the reigns

No way should the Democrats try to stop the wall from starting, it'll probably end up being a great talking point.

You know that the awesome part of this is that technologies like blockchain may make the money transfer portion of paying for the wall impossible.
What a fool...

Basically new fintech services will be able to allow trusted financial transactions without the intermediaries (which is where Trump would take a cut from the remittances).
I think they talk about the use of blockchain tech for remittances from immigrant families in this podcast...but it might be another one.

I feel sorry for whoever is on Accounts Receivable for this one. Also, you're all gonna be shocked to learn this, but the Trump cultists are now overjoyed the feds are paying for it and not Mexico.

He's been saying for a while that the plan would be to build the wall and then recoup cost from Mexico either directly, or through punitive tariffs/charges. Even if they don't, the wall still gets built (which is the important part for Americans, whats a few billion more debt to them?)
I know after he got elected he admitted the scale would be smaller than anticipated (ie fence in some areas). Interested to see where that is heading now.

So I guess Ducay is going to be the guy to step up and defend Trump non-stop as a sort of quasi troll for the next ???? years. Good to know.

Exactly. More like a counterbalance to the anti-Trump circle-j*rk going on. I'm fine criticising him, he has tonnes of flaw in policy and person, but for this to be a 24/7 echo chamber of hate doesn't really do anyone any good.

I feel like he is really going to build this wall. Or at least try his hardest to.
I wasn't really thinking it was a serious thing. But I think he is in love and obsessed with the idea of actually building a massive wall that will immortalize him. The fact that no one believed he could or would actually do it makes him even more motivated.
It's only his hardest core supporters that really want a wall anyway. I know of more than a few people who voted for him who assumed that the wall was just talk and would never happen. A wall would affect so few lives of just about anyone, and would be the craziest waste of money ever.
I predict he will get so obsessed with it, that it will actually be his downfall. It will get about a quarter built and he'll either be removed by his own party or lose in 2020, and North America will always remember this crazy period of history by the decaying, partially built wall along the border.

When you hold public office you need to put your name on something-anything-to help frame your legacy. Trump has already been doing that for decades, but now he has public money to wield.
A segregating Wall is the perfect public structure for Trump to hang his name off of.

Very little hate, tons of absolutely mockery. I would advise cancelling your cable now if you don't like the Trump mockery, because the next little while will be unbearable for you.

There is a live interview with Obama about Obamacare on Vox. I am sure it will touch on some things that might be affected under the Trump admin.
