The Jackets next play at Minnesota on Saturday night, and the Wild have won 12 straight, setting up the first meeting between clubs with such long streaks.

It's been an incredible turnaround from a team that finished 27th-overall in the league last season. They're now just three wins short of tying Pittsburgh's all-time NHL record of 17 consecutive victories, set during the 1992-93 season.

The win sets up a showdown on New Year's Eve against the Columbus Blue Jackets, who have won 14 straight games. It's the first game in NHL history featuring two teams on such long winning streaks.
There's some trivia with the Flames being involved. The Wild's last loss was also against the Flames, a 3-2 SO loss. The debate will happen with the BJs and Wild streaks in comparing the Penguins 17 straight wins because the SO wasn't around back then. The BJs have had 2 SO wins so far and 1 SO win for the Wild. The debate was on back then as the Islanders won 15 straight and there was no OT during that streak and the Penguins had 2 OT wins. The other streak going for both teams has the BJs not losing in reg time in 16 games and the Wild in 13 games. Still a long way to go to the Bhawks and Flyers records.

Great game for the Rangers as Puempel gets PPG hattrick, Rangers win 6-3 over the Coyotes. Spooner scores 2 goals as the Bruins win 4-2 over the Sabres. The Devils win 2-1 in the SO over the Capitals, great goaltending by Keith Kinkaid for the Devils. The Bhawks win 3-2 over the Predators. Crawford sticks his skate out as a Predator trips over it, but, the Predators gets called for goalie interference.

This still occurred deep in the blue paint...and the refs missed a call on Ribiero tripping Crawford in the blue paint on the possession before...there are ways of getting even!

The GWG, was a no look shot by Kane on a 4 on 2 break, as Kane was out with the 4th liners, Kero and Motte. Rinne cheated off of his post, thinking pass to the middle. Kane's 700th NHL point.
