Kings lost to the lowly canucks yesterday. Hopefully they're in a bad mood and pound the greasers.

That was a great ceremony for Daniel Alfredsson's jersey retirement. Nice job by the Sens.

Matthews is quite the player. I'm surprised there isn't much talk about if he's better than McDavid given his performance and of course, status as a Leaf.

He's certainly better than Laine. That talk was silly.

The two big OOT games have the BJs ahead 3-1 and the Wild leading 4-2, both games are late in the second period. It looks like a clash of the Titans on Saturday afternoon!

What's the record for combined winning streaks by two teams in a game? Assuming they both hang in to thier leads, the combined 26 for the Jackets and Wild on Saturday would have to be close to a record.

And we get Eric Francis telling us how much smarter than everyone he is.

Sportsnet has always had bias towards the Coilers. 10 years ago we were all set to have my little niece on TV with her "Oilers SUCK!" sign until a producer stepped up and said no because it would offend Oilers fans. Funny enough they showed 3 different "Flamers" signs the next game the Flames were in Rectall.

Yeah, the 26 games is an NHL record. From the Wild and the Jackets. Crazy.

I'm surprised no one is making the obvious connection that in an expansion year, the last two expansion teams are meeting in what is essentially "The Expansion Bowl"

Coilers up by 1 after 2 periods. That's disappointing. I expected the Kings to dominate this game, especially after losing to the bottom feeder Canucks.

The Habs do the opposite from last night's game. This time they were down 2-1 going into the third period, Gallagher ties the game from Danault with 2:37 left in regulation time. Danault scores the winning goal just 39 seconds into overtime on a break away! Habs win 3-2 with Montoya in net for Montreal.

From http://nhl.nbcsports.com/2016/12/29/...wild-get-12th/

"If you love sports, how could you root against this scenario?

You could say that the BJs are putting up some real eye-popping numbers.

Wild fans have been grumbling “What about us?”

If you love the sport (or really even merely occasionally enjoy a little hockey, honestly), you’d be wise to work that game into your schedule on that holiday night."

This is unbelieveable hearing the hockey headlines leading with these two teams. Here are some post game write ups and quotes from these two amazing teams.

From http://scores.nbcsports.msnbc.com/nh...=29&final=true
The Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Winnipeg Jets 5-3 on Thursday night to extend their franchise-record winning streak to 14 games.

The run is tied for the fourth longest winning streak ever in the NHL and Columbus closing in on the record of 17 set by Pittsburgh in 1992-93. The Jackets next play at Minnesota on Saturday night, and the Wild have won 12 straight, setting up the first meeting between clubs with such long streaks.

From http://sportsstats.cbc.ca/hockey/nhl...ecap76730.html
Columbus is now 25-5-4 and on top of the NHL standings thanks to the streak, which has seen it go 15-0-1 over their past 16 games. The Blue Jackets haven't tasted defeat since a Nov. 26 shootout loss to Florida. Their last regulation loss came on Nov. 23 against Calgary.

It's been an incredible turnaround from a team that finished 27th-overall in the league last season. They're now just three wins short of tying Pittsburgh's all-time NHL record of 17 consecutive victories, set during the 1992-93 season.

From http://sportsstats.cbc.ca/hockey/nhl...ecap76729.html
Sometimes a little luck is needed to keep a winning streak alive. The Minnesota Wild found that out Thursday night.

Minnesota extended its winning streak to 12 games with a 6-4 win over the New York Islanders. The Wild's game-winning goal midway through the third period bounced off both of Erik Haula's legs and into the net, helping Minnesota stay red-hot heading into Saturday's matchup with the Columbus Blue Jackets, who own a 14-game winning streak.

From http://scores.nbcsports.msnbc.com/nh...=12&final=true
Erik Haula scored midway through the third period to help the Minnesota Wild hold off the New York Islanders 6-4 on Thursday night for their 12th victory in a row.

The win sets up a showdown on New Year's Eve against the Columbus Blue Jackets, who have won 14 straight games. It's the first game in NHL history featuring two teams on such long winning streaks.

It's early but bets on who keeps their win streak alive this coming saturday? The Columbus Blue Jackets going after their 15th win or the Minnesota Wild going for their 13th win. My gut says the Jackets but I've a feeling Dubnyk will steal the show like always.

This game is Must See TV and it will go to OT or the SO. Flip a coin cause it'll be close.
