Depends on how you want to do the math.
With Canada needing 70ish planes you would need to look at program costs to get the 70th plane. Your 750 million on R+D didn't get the first plane off the assembly line.
If we are going to be subsidizing an industry military aerospace isn't where I would put my dollars. All areospace industry in the world is heavily subsidized. Look at the mess of Bombardier. If we are picking an industry to subsidize let's pick something with less competition

Take solice in the fact that it wasn't for good ol Canadian know how and nazis, the US would have never won the race to the moon.
It's kinda like the old work trailer I have. On one side of the tongue it says "Built the American way" and on the other side of the tongue there's a plate saying "made in Mexico".
Thanks Diefenbaker.

Wikipedia has RDT&E cost of the F-35 at $55 billion, $750 million seemed way to small.

How isn't there more of an uproar over these nuclear arms race comments?
That is seriously dangerous rhetoric. What the f is Trump thinking.

Ok, fair.
But still. This is scary stuff, and I'm not one for hysterics.
Are we seriously going back in time 40 years to the Cuban missile crisis?

The US government gave both Lockheed and Boeing $750M to develop their prototypes for the award of the contract. Both companies brought their functional concept airframe to the table for demonstration. This was to reduce the T&E expense, which the US government is known to get crazy with, and why over-runs are so extreme. The US government should learn the definition of the term scope creep, because this is where costs and redesign go through the roof.

The question right now should really be about how do Trump supporters really feel right now. Take military vets, who probably voted for Trump 2 to 1: How much does it suck knowing Omarosa is the closest you'll get to talking to Trump in the next four years? Every group that supported Trump is either going to have to go full cult to support him, or turn against him almost immediately since he's already betraying them.

Yeah $750M for demonstrators sounds more realistic, there's still a ton of work that needs to be done after that even without scope creep, and scope creep and redesign are definitely are killers, as is program freezes/suspensions I've been reading (like if a program is paused for lack of funding too).
The Typhoon's development costs are said to be $5B euros.

This guy has always been known as a racist, but I guess the Trump win has emboldened him to simply not give a ####.

About the nuke thing, Conway was on Rachel Maddow last night, I could only listen for a few minutes as watching Conway is what it must feel like to be attacked by Dementors.
She basically brushed off Trump's tweet saying that his tweets just mean he wants to protect the US, that they shouldn't be taken as shifting in policy (and falsely equivocated Obama's $1T modernization of the nuclear system with Trump's statement to expand capability), that by expand he doesn't mean expand just that he'll do whatever to protect people.
The world is probably going to have to learn that what Trump says isn't worth the pixels it's displayed on since he'll say anything and it's based on what he's heard in the last 10 minutes only; the past norms of a president's words being measured and a decent indication of policy or intent is gone, because Trump certainly isn't capable of modifying his behaviour. Ignore what he says and focus on what he does I guess.
Regarding Trump's tweets about Eric Trump's charity, so ****ing stupid, either Trump is, or he thinks everyone else is to buy his whining.

Conway is horrible, the way she answers questions about Trump is to complain about Hillary or Obama.

He's thinking that throwing out this crap keeps the press and publics mind off his massive conflicts of interest that are impeachable offenses

Impeachable just means that the house has the desire and the will to do it, and they don't care as long as Trump isn't hurting them.
So much for the nuclear talk just being locker room talk:
“Let it be an arms race, because we will outmatch them at every pass and outlast them all,” Trump said Friday morning, according to “Morning Joe” co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough.

Haha Nate Silver tweet:
Here's what the electoral map would look like if only people who weren't burnt to a crisp in the nuclear holocaust voted.
