Smart and measured. When you hear him talk in such a setting you gain a lot of confidence that decisions are being made very thoughtfully and with good reason. His answers on Syria are a good example. I question the lack of intervention, but when you hear him explain his reasons you can so easily understand why he has made the decisions he has.
It's going to be a long four years. Trump is woefully ill prepared for the weight of this office. Things on the international scene could unravel pretty quickly. I'm worried.

Actually, there has been a significant amount of speculation regarding Russian hacking into voter databases and computer systems, much of it baseless of course. I never expect brilliance coming into this thread, but if you are going to condescendingly chastise me, at least have a baseline level of education regarding the topic at hand.

Curiously, I don't see anywhere in that article where it alleges that Russia hacked into voting systems (I had presumed that it was cited as an example of such.)

Yeah I'm not sure what the dw article is being presented as. We've all been discussing the specific hacking being referred to in the current news by the White House, CIA, FBI, other intelligence agencies, etc. Zarley maybe misunderstood and seems to be referring to any and all Russian hacking being speculated about or referred to all over?

Yea, I think the entire planet is gonna miss him. With President Trump you won't get anywhere near the eloquence, intelligence, or thoughtfulness of a guy like Obama. Will Trump even hold any press conferences? He hasn't had one since July and so far he's done everything humanly possible to avoid having to answer questions from reporters. Whether that will change after he's sworn in remains to be seen.

Trump's team is also claiming that twitter wasn't invited to the tech summit because the table wasn't big enough instead of retribution over not making an emoji they wanted. It was big enough for Palantair though, a company much smaller than the others invited but just happens to be backed by Peter Thiel. And big enough for his sons who are supposed to be running his company so Trump avoids a conflict of interest.

People harassing Kurt Eichenwald's (Newsweek writer, has written lots of stuff about Trump during the campaign) kids after he has a heated segment on Fox news, then someone tweeted him an image intending to trigger his epilepsy and succeeds (someone tried it before but he dropped his iPad before it triggered one).

Apologies, I had a number of other linked articles speculating on potential security breaches at election authorities in the U.S., but I just have deleted them before posting. I'll find them again later.
Regardless, I'm referring to this notion that Trump is working hand in hand with Putin based on the Russian bank server communication as well as other alleged hacking into voter databases. It's nothing more than a foolish conspiracy theory.

Yeah that stuff has been out there and discussed, but the post you replied to I think RougeUnderoos (and I as well) assumed was talking about the specific hacking that that'd been in the news cycle and was being talked about by the WH and members of the house; that stuff isn't a conspiracy theory.
The communication between the server under Trump's control and the Russian bank I think was more than just conspiracy theory (i.e. it was actual data looked at by reputable people), but definitely wasn't something one could draw any conclusions off of (let alone establish a direct link between Trump and Putin).

Yeah...I'm of the opinion that thinks that the Alfa/Trump server story is potentially still a thing.
The hacking of voting machines...not so much.

Yes, they have been brought up several times recently - in fact, I believe it was Fozzie who posted an in depth article regarding a Trump server pinging Russia. Keep up.

I listen to NPR on my drive to and from work pretty much every day, and this evening they did a segment with Michael Hayden, a former CIA and NSA director, and he's stating that if high ranking officials are willing to go on record, to put their reputations on the line to say that there is "strong evidence" of tampering in the election by Russia, then this is a very serious issue, because they're not going to just throw around accusations like that without very solid evidence.
He's not saying Russia hacked voting machines (if there were voting machine issues at all, I'd more easily believe that they were either outdated and poorly maintained, or if tampering with those happened, it was likely by local officials, not some threat from Russia), and he's not saying that Trump conspired with Putin to win the election. Regardless, if you look at much of the reasoning for why many people wouldn't vote for Clinton, the email issue was a huge reason, and it was easily the biggest story of the election season, and it just wouldn't go away. I guarantee there are just as many "smoking gun" types of statements from the RNC, if not far worse (given some of the information found in documents from NC that led to their voting rights changes being deemed blatantly racist), but it would be inopportune for Russian interests for Trump and the RNC to be under fire the way that Clinton and the DNC were. They hacked both and then specifically leaked information that would sway the opinions of the electorate in the direction they wanted those opinions to sway.
That a foreign entity can affect our election is terrifying, regardless of the particular candidates involved, and it's an issue that absolutely needs to be thoroughly investigated for the sake of future elections. It will unlikely change anything for this current election, but what about 2 and 4 and 8 years down the road? If Russia is going to attempt to interfere, we as a country need to be aware and do whatever we can to stop it.
And beyond all of these issues, that the President Elect is flat out ignoring the guidance of this country's intelligence community because he's pouting about it is highly disconcerting.

That press conference was the one in which he suggested that Russia hack Clinton's emails, no less.

Certainly appears that Americans are very optimistic and have high hopes for a Trump administration.
