Also, biggest complaint about such a switch: All of the eastern hockey games would begin at 6PM, and West Coast games would start at 9PM. For this reason alone, I would much prefer to switch to Mountain Standard Time permanently.

I don't mean to suggest that determining the true cost of transportation is simple or easy. I just think that it clearly needs to account for pollution and I'm willing to have that discussion without resorting to calling anyone a stupid bitch

The only solution is to make the masses change behaviour though economic incentives that make the alternative more attractive. Expecting Altruism to save the world is Naïve.

Then you have the fact that most green washed things are not meaningfully better for the environment. Recycling being the biggest example. But the whole organic, Carbon Neutral, Eco branding that is slapped on things does nothing.

Stop eating meat. Get rid of your house. Don't live in a country where you have to heat your house. Maybe you make a minor difference in your footprint.

But you live in a first world country, you need to cut out 95% or so of your footprint for everyone in the world to live like you.

I get on the train, sit down, play games on my phone or read books. The frequency of delays is no more than problems in traffic.

I love the train. Coming from the south the time is roughly equal door to desk. Cost is 300-400 per month cheaper not considering vehicle wear and tear. When I switched to a non-downtown job for a while I missed the time I spend reading.

I agree with you though you don't take transit to save the planet. You shouldn't do anything under the guise of saving the planet. Its all marketing hype.

When I worked across town, from the house door to work door it took about 25 minutes longer by ctrain. However I'll agree, it's nice to play games on your phone but on the flip side it's hard to return calls while on the train unless you don't mind ten other people listening in.

C-train's cheaper. Can't argue that.

So she opted to carpool instead of take the bus? That monster! Brian Jean had been told that there was room on the bus, doesn't say who told him that, but why would he try and make her look bad? How do you reach the conclusion that this is a carpool? She got into an SUV with her officials. It doesn't sound like she was ride sharing, in fact it sounds like it was a paid for limo service or government provided limo service.

And it didn't say that she shared this ride with other officials beyond her own.

So of course because he's the only one to use the buss, his carbon footprint is bigger then my hands after dropping acid at a Grateful Dead concert.

Which basic facts? Take a look at the last few posts we've replied to eachother on. They consist of you misinterpreting an example I gave, which was understandable, so I clarified what I had meant, you chose to respond with a picture to symbolize your frustration, I said something along the lines of ignore my posts if they frustrate you, then you took it potshots, I called you on that, now I get another pot shot about being unable to comprehend basic facts. Whether it was a ride share or a limo service is kind of irrelevant, she didn't drive off by herself in a hummer. Multiple people used one vehicle instead of 2-4. The article is a very poor attempt at attacking her, regardless of the facts, it's poorly written, even when they tried to make wall look somewhat environmentally friendly, any person with half a brain would realize how 1 passenger on a bus is not environmentally friendly.
