I definitely remember these highlights. I can see them in my head playing on my family's tv that had real wood surrounding the screen and brass handles built into the bottom. Your brain did not fabricate them.

Not the video/calls in question, but a nostalgic look back at February 1989 on Sports at 11.
Doug Gilmour's hair was a true work of art, and even though Calgary was just half the size it is today, demand for brass beds was so high that there were four Brass Bed Sleep Centres.

I can't get the URL button to work on my mobile, but www.flyershistory.com has box scores for NHL seasons as far back as 1916. I went through all the Flames box scores for the 1995-96 season and Zalapski didn't score a hat trick that year... sorry...
EDIT: Put this into your browser and scroll down to the bottom for the drop down menus to be able to select the team and the season... http://hsp.flyershistory.com
On Hockey Reference, you can check his game logs, and Zalapski never scored an NHL hat trick. He did have one two-goal game as a Flame (and a couple against the Flames).

That was a brilliant response by Gilmour to the question by Grant.
"Are you concerned about the toughness of the LA Kings with Miller, Mcsorley...etc"
Gilmour: I rather have them on the ice than Gretzky. I rather play against those guys.
I have on tape TSN Sportscentre when we beat Tampa Bay 10-0. Damn that team was bad, how did we score 10? The announcer was like "The Flames were on Cruise control, as in Paul Kruse after showing him score a goal. I have a bunch of old highlights like that on a VHS tape, the return of Gary Roberts is on there too.

Sounds like Mike Toth. He had a fondness for creative wordplay. He always referred to Jeff Shantz as the "Duke of Duchess." (He stole that from me, BTW).
Any chance you are thinking of Dana Murzyn with the hat trick? I remember being at the Dome for that one. Glorious. Might have been against Hartford, but could be wrong on that count.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.
I am pretty sure I remember Hartford game. As I recall Jeff Reese was the goalie and set an NHL record for goaltenders with 3 assists in one game. Different era for sure.

Ah those were the days when I was a young man with the world in the palm of my hands. Sports at 11 was must see TV.
Now I am an old dude just hanging on by my yellowed cracked fingernails. 11 pm now is the time I awake to go pee.
But at least now I have CP so I got that going for me.

Reese's 3 assist game was against the Sharks.
There were 2 hatties in the game - Bob Reichel and Ron Stern (who I believe had two hat tricks in his career)
