Kunkstyle swears by both. I haven't successfully done chicken yet. Every time I tried we would have to go to the hospital with my wife because she thought she was having a baby so by the time we got back the chicken was mushy and relegated to the fridge for salads. (I have only had mine for 2 months)
Apparently chicken w/a meat injector will change your life. So far I have just done steaks. It is worth the investment just for that alone. Anything else is an added bonus.

Aren't you risking food poisoning or something if you leave your steak in the bag for most of the day before cooking it?

i have heard that there is no issue if you basically use a ton of ice. have a giant ice bath in your preferred cooking vessel with your meat before you leave. stick your sous vide machine in and leave. turn it on at the appropriate time before you get home (or earlier since you can set it to a temp that just keeps it warm). then take out of the bag and sear if you want

It'll likely happen for the next little while, people cancelling or having their orders cancelled. If you REALLY want it you might be successful refreshing the page.

Amazon.COM has the 3DS $99 USD consoles up. I haven't seen them up in Canada yet and with the conversion it might not be much more expensive buying from them . . .

Can we have two Black Friday threads?
One for the tech deals, and one for the humidifiers and portable cooktops...

"$99.99 + $18.83 Shipping & Import Fees Deposit"
That's $160ish, Walmart says Canadian price is/will be $140

Who knows if it'll be easy to get in Canada - either way, Amazon already sold out of both consoles already.

EB Games said they are getting a bunch in for black Friday. I just realized they are regular sized 3DS's and not a 3DS XL so I am not sure that I'm going to bother. I pulled up my sons old regular sized DS and it's seems pretty small compared to the XL.

It's a bit bigger than the original 3DS, but has the same tech as the new XL.

Phillips Airfryer is $199 at Bay/Home Outfitters. Any thoughts on this? Is it worth a place in the pantry?

I bought it for the same price about a month ago. The only thing we have made so far is french fries but they turnout pretty good, nice and crispy using just a little bit of oil. Daughter loves fries so this is better than buying the frozen fries.

Sous Vide thing looks cool, I just don't want to fork over another hundred for the vaccum sealer (although I guess that might be handy for food portioning and freezing too) and have been reading that cooking in ziplocks is not ideal as far as the quality of the plastic - anybody recommend a good sealer at a decent price?

25% off Flames tickets for December games today. They seem to be getting pretty desperate to move tickets.

I've read that water displacement method works just as well for most recipes. You just have to make sure that you use high quality Ziploc (or similar) freezer bags that use polyethylene. A generic zipper bag that does not use polyethylene will fail at the seams at high temperatures (ie > 180F)
If you are really concerned about the quality of the bags, you can always order sous vide bags off amazon and use the water displacement method without vacuum sealing. These bags have more robust seams that will withstand higher temperatures, and have a polyethylene mesh in the inside of the bag. Polyethylene does not leach into the food at high temperatures.
Most recipes (ie steak, pork chops, fish, chicken) are cooked at under 180F, but if you want to do longer cooks (ie brisket, ribs, pork shoulder) for 12-24H, then you may want to use a sous vide bag or vacuum sealer. But for everyday use, a ziploc style freezer bag works just fine. Just be sure to clip the bag to the cooking vessel so that it doesn't float around.
