I'd make sure when CTV calls (or whomever it is) that you emphasize your point from earlier that you were told by a Truman rep that they can't say if you stood in or your sink or not. That was a ridiculous comment to make. That's the type of comment that will bring them to their knees in the court of public opinion.

It's true.

Let's be honest, it's not the fact that the warranty doesn't cover it. It's their reaction to it. They might as well have Ducay'ed it and said "well did you fill half up with water? filling sinks with water is risky!"

"How do we know you didn't stand in it?"

I don't know, maybe because it's a sink?

Lol they deleted my comment.

On one of the photo posts I just asked a simple question "Hi, can you comment on the quality of your sink installation, I have heard some homes have issues with this."

As a potential homebuyer it would be nice if they would comment on issues that i am seeing online.

What's funny about this is that even if it isn't their fault (which it is) and even if the initial person you spoke to couldn't do much without escalating the issue (which is no doubt true) and even if your new home warranty is expired (which it obviously is), someone at Truman could and should have reached out and tried to answer your questions and help you with this.

To instantly lay blame back on you with their flippant comment that it was your fault is ridiculous. Man even if they'd have investigated and said sorry Polak we checked our records and our NHW home inspector signed off that the sink was installed to code (no idea if this is a thing, just using an example scenario) and as such we will have to refer you back to your insurance company as this is an act of god or wear and tear, not negligence, I'd at least kind of understand. Although a sink should not just collapse due to wear and tear so even that would be weak.

What a bunch of dinks.

These things happen. Sometimes you can't control it. But what you CAN control is how you respond and react to these situations. People are pretty forgiving for the most part if a company deals with it in a good manner. Clearly this is not a good way to deal with it.

#### happens. But how you deal with makes all the difference. Then to delete the comment section (aka damage control)...

Truman reps are probably reading this. You guys know damn well you'll end up giving in once this hits the news or this goes viral. Why delay the inevitable and look like fools? The fact that it takes an online community and potentially the media to sway you is pretty disgraceful.

HEY TRUMAN.

Do the right thing now and avoid the negative publicity if this hits the real news. Not that we aren't real news here. We are. We are really really good. The best, and we will win. We are going to win so big. But we are also forgiving. Well, not The Captain, but most of us are. Just help our little ray of sunshine out, ok?

No kidding. I'm guessing there will be some "Customer Service Basics in the 21st Century" pamphlets handed around the Truman offices sometime soon.

If the guy had just been polite on the phone, we'd probably never have heard of this. It certainly wouldn't be approaching 9,000 views (31 people viewing at the moment I started typing) and wouldn't potentially end up on the news.

I too am in the market for a new home. It's a nerve-racking, complicated decision, but if there's one positive to take from this mess, one option has been ruled out.

Deleting comments, removing the reviews. Makes me wonder how many other times they have done that?

As a business you obviously don't like to have bad reviews or comments about your work, but things happen and businesses should be accountable for they handle them. I've dealt with many companies who have had bad reviews and have tried to handle them in an acceptable way. Trying to delete people's opinions is absolutely underhanded and quite disgusting.

Before we go crazy, let's just confirm before any dirty laundry comes out, polak, you didn't stand in the sink did you? Is sink standing the new parkour?

Well. I'm a real estate investor, and my broker has invited me to speak to all her agents at their weekly meeting. This seems like it would be a good way to open the discussion. It'll be a 2 for 1 for the agents - don't let your clients buy a Truman property, and how not to do social media.

I'm supposed to talk about how to work with a real estate investor client, but I think this will be more interesting.

While you're at it mention {EDIT} Cedarglen Homes. "Has Mottle been in the bottle?" incident is even worse than this. http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread/t-103571.html

By the way, good luck Polak. The installation of the sink was clearly negligent so one way or another I expect you'll be properly compensated.
