With this effort we should mourn for the Flames' owners as well. They got fleeced with all these 6M+ contracts for the first line, and get screwed by these 3M+ contracts for their 4th line. What a shame

I've been patient since I knew there would be an adjustment period, but I think they've adjusted by now. They just suck. It starts on the coach and it flow right on down. I don't think Gulutzan will last the full season. I'm just not seeing a winning team under his watch.
I'm not seeing an NHL team let alone a winning team. They are playing so horrifically it's unwatchable, it rivals Brent Sutter levels of suck.

You would think you'd see some anger or intensity from Gulutzan. If he doesn't turn it around, this is his last NHL coaching opportunity period.

I would think that would be enough motivation

I get when people say the coach isn't making the players perform poorly but when you think about it this exactly what's happening. Forcing a style of play and systems that just don't work for this group. Glad the coach is good in the room and the players like him but this coaching Staff is doomed and so is the season if they don't act fast.

Why do these other teams make look goal scoring look so easy?

Someone needs to post another link to one of those apologist articles explaining that it takes time for a team to adjust to a new head coach and we just aren't patient as good times are just around the corner. I no longer expect wins as I'm at the point where I would be happy with competitive losses.

They are losing lots of puck battles and races to the puck. The one thing Hartley did well was have his guys in shape. I think they aren't as fit this year. And I was ok with Hartley going.

Gulutzan's system is a dud, and the players know it, and are playing like it.

Gulutzan seems to demand shots through traffic and isn't letting the defence off the blue line all that much. This isn't going to bode well for the high speed Flames who play better with stretch pass hockey.

I remember seeing articles about how teams get an immediate bump from a new coach. Then when the season started slowly it turned into articles about how it takes 18 games. Nope.

Why? He had one year left on his contract, Treliving could've just let him coach out the year and then found a replacement during the off-season.

I think they are trying but they are playing like a defeated group. Once that first goal went in the air went out of the building and it's like the players have accepted their fate.

They either are not playing the system (a coaching problem) or the system is bad (a coaching problem). I've been patient but I'm changing my mind.
