To be honest, I didn't think Trump had a chance because I expected hardly any women to vote for him. But when I saw the results and took a moment to think about it, I'm kinda glad women can get past the fact a politician makes crude remarks. Maybe it's a good thing women are tough-minded enough to vote on considerations other than the fact that they're women.

Yes, I don't think he would've been the favourite but this comes down to electoral math and if you have one candidate promising jobs and one candidate not, the electoral math (in hindsight).

I've just been going through my post history regarding trump and hillary and wow is it a wild ride, from saying he wouldn't get a sniff of the presidency to resigned to him winning in about 9 months.

Incredible campaign in hindsight. I predicted that once Trump presented policy platforms that he would be eaten alive, but that moment never came, his campaign remained resilient.

Roger Ailes earned whatever win bonus they must've given him. He played a beautiful media campaign.

I'll be interested to see how many coal jobs Trump brings back.

So the message to girls and women is if you're assaulted, don't bother reporting it because at best there'll be no consequences and more than likely you'll be called a liar, have your past behaviour put under a microscope, be threatened and vilified on social media, risk financial ruin by lawsuits, be objectified and belittled because you aren't even attractive enough to abuse in the first place... Just take the abuse.

It makes me want to cry, and I don't have to live it.
The problem is that no one reported it. Instead they waited years and then went to the media. It doesnt send the message that you suggest it does. At least some of Cosby's accuser went to the police.

I never liked the not renting to blacks thing as evidence of him being racist. He was part of a settlement amount many New York landowners. So while the policy was racist it was also the standard business practice of the time. Not that it excuses it but to me it's a different degree then say Donald Sterling doing it 40 years later.

There were the rumours of the apprentice tapes but If that exists then it would have came out. He also not that anti-immigrant given his employment practices and wives. This is me being hopeful though.

Well, if what the 13 year-old alleges is true, it kind of makes sense.

Because history tells us that women raped by rich white men don't tend to get justice.

Truly is life imitating art. Unfortunately this is what it's come to for Canada and the US.

Massive protests across the USA tonight. The protest in Oakland, California looks huge. Easily tens of thousands of people out on the streets in Oakland.

I wonder how many protestors didn't bother to vote. If you didn't vote you have no right to be upset IMO.

You take the good, you take the bad, and there you have... universal suffrage. **** happens. Like when all those democrats in Egypt overthrew their dictator and elected a religious doofus, and then the dictator started looking good again. It was a fair contest, if anything biased for the Establishment candidate, and yet "the People" are sovereign. So, what do you want now? A military coup? Restriction of the franchise to the propertied classes? To 100+ IQ? There are just as many racists and homophobes as there were 48 hrs ago - the identity of the election winner didn't change that. Lynchings of minorities are no more likely now than under president Clinton. Or are you expecting Trump to order State Troopers out to round up the malcontents? Nothing will happen - no man, no matter how bombastic, can overcome the inertia of a modern bureaucracy - things will go on as before.

538 sums up the election.

National polls good state polls bad if 1/100 voters who voted trump voted Hillary the map flips completely.

It is actually sad what is happening. These same people are protesting Trump and would prefer Hillary to win. It was the Democrats who squandered the last 8 years, and did not just sit back during Black Lives Matter, but instead fanned the flames. All under Obama's watch.

They should give Trump a chance, instead of this nonsense.

Obama had 2 years of domestic policy he could work with. After that he was crushed by obstruction.

Unfortunately, it is not that ridiculous. The media have spun this anti trump message so strongly, people are bound to buy it hook line and sinker. Some people are very susceptible to this, as we are witnessing in this thread.

People crying about this? People scared? The left have demonized the right (often for good reasons), but this is out of control. Did Trump act outrageous? Of course he did. Hillary said the right things, but behind closed doors acted in much more deviant ways. Both candidates blew!
