This was for an opposition research project originally financed by a Republican client critical of the celebrity mogul. (Before the former spy was retained, the project's financing switched to a client allied with Democrats.) "It started off as a fairly general inquiry," says the former spook, who asks not to be identified. But when he dug into Trump, he notes, he came across troubling information indicating connections between Trump and the Russian government. According to his sources, he says, "there was an established exchange of information between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin of mutual benefit."

Here is an NYT article that came out today on the subject. Mother Jones has has a slightly higher credibility rating than say, Brietbart, so I would be skeptical on the source material.
WASHINGTON — For much of the summer, the F.B.I. pursued a widening investigation into a Russian role in the American presidential campaign. Agents scrutinized advisers close to Donald J. Trump, looked for financial connections with Russian financial figures, searched for those involved in hacking the computers of Democrats, and even chased a lead — which they ultimately came to doubt — about a possible secret channel of email communication from the Trump Organization to a Russian bank.
Law enforcement officials say that none of the investigations so far have found any conclusive or direct link between Mr. Trump and the Russian government. And even the hacking into Democratic emails, F.B.I. and intelligence officials now believe, was aimed at disrupting the presidential election rather than electing Mr. Trump.

And here I expected you to jump up my ass for making such a harsh judgment without due process. I mean, firing someone and taking away a teaching certificate, ending her career, for just expressing her 1st amendment rights? I was fully expecting that angle. I'm leaving relieved but confused.
The assault is the bigger issue, and requires criminal investigation. The other stuff is something that can be handled through administrative means, so I think based on the terror she put this poor child through she should define be terminated and prevented from teaching again. Surprisingly, this teacher is black, which was a major curveball when looking her up. Very strange situation.

If Trump wins I support building the wall. And I think the international community should pay for it, not to keep 'illegals' out, but to keep Americans in.

I'm not sure if you actually expected that, but... She's perfectly free to express whatever idiotic nonsense she wants to, but doing so in the course of her job, when it's antithetical to the relationship a teacher should be building with her students and certainly contrary to an effective learning environment, definitely justifies ending her career. In that sense she wouldn't be getting fired for expressing her beliefs, but for being terrible at her job. I don't think it justifies a witch hunt or anything, mind you.
Anyway, I did caveat it with "if this is true". Who knows. If an allegation of assaulting a child were credible you'd expect them to be fired, but I have no facts other than the article posted.

What a weird comment. Why would her skin colour be surprising, or matter at all.

Yeah that one really threw me. The number of black Christians far outnumbers the amount of black Muslims in the US, though there was a strong conversion movement in the early/mid 90s that bumped that population a fair bit (outside of immigration).

In my mind I'd just guess that black, hispanic, etc people are subject to more discrimination in the USA so would also in general be less apt to discriminate towards others.

I wonder if this is one of the remaining bombs that Hillary and her campaign were holding to get released? I wonder if they have a few more queued up for release in 4 or 5 days...

Every day a huge chunk of the population locks in their votes, I think the Russian thing and the crazy tax scheme was the last major things and neighter caught on.
I'd seen rumours that there'd be one more and that it was Trump paying for an abortion, but if they had that they'd have played it already.

The Russian thing is pretty much dead. I also read there was one more thing the Clinton camp had up their sleeve. But I agree, this stuff was left way too late.

When I heard Trump supporter, anti-Muslim, and Arizona, I was not expecting a middle aged black woman. Especially from a conservative charter school, most of which are run by the Mormon church down here. Maybe that will help you understand context.

I mean, you probably could have stopped at Trump supporter, statistically as there aren't a lot of black Trump supporters. It was just a weird thing to comment on as a "major curveball"... why does it matter? Black people in particular aren't supposed to behave this way, to your mind?
Hardly worth a debate, I guess, I just thought it was weird.

Yeas, such strange heuristics. Trump rallies have just been jam packed with middle aged black women. The demographics Trump appeals to are just so heavily weighted on monorities and women. And charter schools in Arizona usually employ a lot of minorities (they don't, but this you wouldn't know, nor the affiliation of charter schools, so I can forgive that). Such strange assumptions to make when you hear about a teacher at a charter school in Phoenix going on a racist rant and terrorizing a Muslim child while supporting Trump's worldview.

I think everyone except Trump's core group of deplorables would be ok with McMullin winning.
