watched a little bit of the game and buffalo was playing physical and not giving up breakaways to plugs, what a concept... Talbot isnt the answer, even against calgary, he was awful

I didn't see much of the Oilers-Sabers game. What did Pouliot do?

Took 6 offensive zone minor penalties in his first 7 periods so far this year

McLennan ripped Pouliot. Wow haven't heard a coach rip a player that badly in a long time.

Just clean up Pouloit's offensive zone penalties and that should do it. Cup contenders then.

Woo McLellan ripped on Poulliot. He spent half of last year crying and ripping the Oilers on their lack of effort and it got him exactly zero response.

He's a German Manager trying to run an American Nuclear powerplant.

So the Oilers canceled their day off today after a team vote that was apparently urged by TM.
LOL!
This is a strangely terrible move by a veteran coach, and also demonstrative as to why Mcdavid is not fit to be a captain.

So a 19 year old with no real commitments other than hockey comes into the room and tells guys who fought and lost money for CBAs, and the mandatory day off thing being the only thing they really got out of it, that they should hold a vote to cancel the day off tomorrow? Ya, that will go over well. Talbot lost 5 months of pay in the last lockout and has a wife who is expecting twins any day, but since he had a bad game, he's going to look like a bad guy if he says that he has commitments on the pre assigned day off. Ya, there'll be absolutely no resentment for a teenager who causes issues in your home life.

Did the vote need to be unanimous? Or were there a handful of guys in the room who actually voted against it, but are now being forced to practice? We'll never know, but my bet is the latter.

Who is the player rep on this team? Guaranteed he knows this is a terrible idea and is going to look really amongst all of their peers.

Players would respect a captain who walks out of Todd's office after calming him down and letting him know that canceling days off is not what a 2-1 team needs. It shows panic and is going to do more harm than good at this time. It also is demonstrative that TM doesn't really respect Mcdavid as a captain. Can't see a single other coach calling in a single other captain in this league to ask them to ask the room to vote on this. What a gong show this team is. Every decision they make is horrid.

Is switching the mandatory day off from today to Wednesday after a terrible loss yesterday really that big of a deal?

Also Talbot has a C-section for his wife booked for Wednesday so it is probably better for him. Not that I imagine he would have practiced that day anyway.

A vote?...... really?

Sounds more like a mom asking her 5 year old to vote on eating liver for supper. Even at 5 the kid knows he's eating the filthy liver, want to or not. She's just making sure he knows who the boss is and adding in the extra insult of making him tell her she is in the process. Even then the kid knows its ####ty and gives her the finger when she turns around.

Great way to lay down the law to a 5 year old but not sure it's the best motivation for grown f'n men..

I don't know. I'd like to see the Flames cancel some days off after their start.

Went to the Kanye West concert in Edmonton on the weekend at the new Rogers Arena. A portion of the lower bowel seats, likely the movable/stackable sections for brining in stages and such, do not have cup holders.

Brand new building, lower bowel seats, no cup holders. Edmonton is no good.

I'd be pissed if one of my 4 days off a month were shifted 10 hours before the fact. Especially if it was done by an emotionally reactive coach through his 19 year old team leader.

I actually thinking this is a good move on Mclellan's part. As a coach, despite getting the Ws, he probably wasn't all that happy with his team's game in the first 2 games.

I also think he's probably sighing a bit of relief that they got beat ugly right after, as it's likely harder to make a message as a coach if the team keeps winning with poor habits. He could immediately get the whips out, lash a player (non-core player of course ) and set the tone early in the season.

Boo.....

I'm told the @NHLPA is reviewing #oilers decision to cancel mandated day off and practice today.

Derr we did bad... lets cancel CBA mandatory day off for practice. Practice scheduled for Christmas day too.
