Pretty solid. Strong on the puck, making plays. Noticeable out there in a good way.

McDavid having 6 points in 2 games makes me want to vomit.
Monahan's skating should be better than it is. It is becoming a concern.

Wideman and Engelland are a serviceable bottom pairing.

I'm loving your vernacular. Thanks for a good chuckle after wanting to blow my brains out with all my Oiler friends exploding my phone with texts.

He's got the skill and attitude to succeed. I like his game. But someone is going to crush him hard for one of those junior hockey dekes. Just part of the learning curve though.

Before bouncing on the coach let's realize his system is a complete 180 from Hartley and it shows. Guys look lost but I expect it to come into form and continue for exciting hockey.
Elliot was fine and had some key saves early including 1 or 2 breakaways. Any team giving up that many breakaways will lose.
1 too many pasases right now. If you have a shot, take it. That extra pass is leading to odd man rushes the other way. I am still optimistic.

He's not afraid to go to the dirty areas of the ice or fight for pucks along the boards. I see some of the way his dad played in his game.

Yes our goalie has allowed 10 goals against in 2 games... Also seen more breakaways against than he would see in 30 games.
Its great knowing we have a serviceable second goalie and believe we can win any game he is in compared to years past.

It's bizarre... I think Treliving is an amazing GM - love the way he handles his business, good contracts, sensible moves.
But every year since Feaster, the team on the ice appears slower, bigger, and less impressive: for a young team with lots of supposed potential, we look - bizzarely - abysmally slow.

What exactly is the new strategy? Still looks like crappy defensive play, crappy special teams, and stretch pass attempts still showing some level of effectiveness.

It's cool that you have trust, but the Flames fire coaches who make the playoffs. It's been done twice now.
These games are hilarious.

Another crap game from ferland. If he can't figure out a way to make an impact I'd rather see f. Hamilton in.
Bottom 6 forwards outside of ferland have played well.
Elliott was fine tonight.
.

Agree, Ferland looks lost out there.
Johnny's play right now is frustrating. Just not generating anything. Hope it picks up real soon.
I thought Gio had a bad game. He let McDavid get behind him for the breakaway goal and his penalty on Eberle got them another.
Tkachuk was strong. Bennett was OK. I just feel that he could be giving a bit more.
Just glad to be done with the Oilers for awhile.

Giving up all the breakaways and odd man rushes is really worrisome. Gonna be a long year if that keeps up.
They don't look prepared. Very frustrating that they basically pissed away training camp.

Elliot's not looking sharp either, somebody tell Kipper to come out retirement.

I hate to be the tinfoil hat guy, but it seriously appears that the Wideman thing has turned refs against us. Not so much the penalties being called against the team (although Eberle and McDavid have some dives that would make the 2008/09 Canucks blush) but the infractions that aren't being called for the team. Obviously last game when Johnny had to drag to Oilers on his back is a great example, but I can count at least 4 or 5 times this game where penalties could've easily been called against the Oilers.

Send him to Stockton.
I would seriously rather see any of Wotherspoon/Kulak/Culkin/Andersson/Kylington out there instead because at least they have foot speed and some presence of mind not to turn pucks over at the offensive blue line for multiple breakaways.
|
And at least if the young guys make a mistake you can chalk it up to growing pains.

I agree with the earlier point with Johnny not coming to Calgary to get ready for the season. He's about 2 steps behind and he's handling the puck like garbage.
There are certain players that really need to step the hell up starting tomorrow.
This is an extremely frustrating start to the season, and outside of the first period this team looks worse then it did in game one which is a really bad thing.

Still baffled at the d pairs from game one. This was the first game they had 'normal' pairs, and looked lost. I'm sure they'll improve somewhat but now we've flopped 4 points. Frustrating

Is Bennett going to continue to get robbed or hit the posts consistently? He could be a 40 goal scorer if he hit the net and didn't get robbed so often. He needs to work on his shot.
And Monahan is not ready. Maybe he's injured still I don't know but he was pretty bad all night despite his goal.
Gaudreau bobbled so many pucks. Is he playing with a new stick?
