I imagine Sportsnet Hockey Central might cover it but I am not near a tv right now. Flames website shows nothing.
Edit: Nevermind, I just go surelossed.

What a random hashtag. Even without the space as it appears was intended.

Yet the media calls his parents asking for soundbites about their little boy that "just wants to play hockey". I can't recall any other players parents being so involved in the players public and media relations. Not faulting the parents. More so the media.

Interesting.
I think this is the fallout with the way his agent handled this. Waiting until the last second to sign risks perception amongst diehard fans. it will be interesting to see:
how widespread the sentiment is; and
how long it lingers.
But this is the downside to the strategy employed.

Polak just thinks it's funny to hear professional athletes complain. Guy got an extra few days off before signing a 40 million dollar contract that has given him generational wealth. "How frustrating".
And yes, it's because I'm extremely jealous.

After sleeping on it I still very curious to what the cost would have been to get the 7 or 8 year term? I know the Flames never would have done it but I really think buying those extra UFA years would have been worth the extra money even if it was $8M. I just truly
believe Johnny is going to get better and better and will cost north of $10M when this deal is up and if the Flames want any chance to keep him they are going to have toax out the term. I am not a fan paying a player that type of money in their mid 30's.
At the end of the day it is a problem to worry about 5 years from now. For now I will just be happy he is back with the team

His change in stance has been positively bipolar. From borderline tears over him possibly not being in the lineup for him, a season ticket holder, to talking about how he's treated like a child and then acting entitled.
Odd.

I'm not sure we could have asked for a better deal. 6 years is a long time, and while I think Johnny is going to be an elite player in this league for many years, you never know for certain what a player will be when they've only got an entry-level contract under their belt (see: Phaneuf, Skinner, Gagner, E.Kane, etc).
If he's an elite player at the end of the deal, and if he wants to stay, we're in a great spot to give him a max term deal (assuming the CBA doesn't change this) that'll take him to age 37. He should still be productive at that age, given his style of play, assuming he can stay healthy.
Awesome deal.

The worst types of posters will be the worst offenders for this, if posters aren't going to reflect and absorb where they have been correct and incorrect, how is anyone going to improve as a poster?
Are we content as a community to have someone's loud-mouthed ignorance be equal to that of reserved and informed opinion? Is this calgaryflames.com or hfboards or is it a community with a higher standard?
Should I just take "where r u chris o'sullivan's" posts as being equal to Pierre Monster McGuire or Freeway or getbak?
In my opinion, why bother even having posts saved on the server if they aren't going to be reflected upon and used for historical context, why not just have every thread that falls off the main page automatically deleted?
This place would be a much better community if posters were more accountable to the posts they make. It's an effective way to populate your ignore list when you see the same ill-informed hysterics from the same ill-informed posters time after time.
|
You can populate your ignore list however you choose.
And I think ill-informed posters reveals themselves pretty easily.
But having a bunch of people pat themselves on the back because they are right, or combing through the archives to remind someone when they are wrong, adds little.
Do you think that the loud mouth ignorant opinions need to be surfaced even more than they are now?

We just need the regular season to start then nobody will care anymore. In 6 years it will probably start coming back up though. But by then we've got at least 2 cups so who cares.

Yes, borderline tears. You got me. I was nearly crying cause the Flames hadn't signed Gaudreau
My frustrations about not having him signed yet were towards management.
My laughter at Gaudreau's lack of perspective is towards Gaudreau himself.
Not mutually exclusive.
(I probably am bipolar although I feel like bi polar involves mood swings, while I'm always miserable.)

Thats a home-run anyway you slice it.
Monahan: $6.375
Gaudreau: $6.75
Sorry Sean, it was supposed to be the same but they lost that '3' somewhere. #Honestmistake.

The extra $300k just means Johnny has to pick up the tab everytime. Mony comes out ahead on that one!
