Relative to when the rebuild started, having Gaudreau and Monahan as far along as they are is definitely unexpected and a positive. Bennett isn't far behind.

Gaudreau being so good so early is fantastic for the hockey club.

Another harsh reality of a cap world. No NHL team plays like the Canadian Olympic team. Talent is spread out, disparity is low. Any one team can beat another if they get good bounces and good calls.

Yeah that is the big factor coming into this year. If anything, the group of skaters breaking camp this year has me less enthused than the group that broke camp last year.

But goaltending might change everything. Still can't believe we pissed away all of last season without trying anything to fix that situation but I've argued that point before. At least it got us a good pick.
