Should a Trouba thread see a reference to Gaudreau?

I'm not upset about anything. Let's just say I wasn't surprised that you were the one who brought Hamilton's name up.

Anyways, Trouba asks to be traded from a Canadian team so maybe they're not that comparable 🙂

Let's be realistic. "More of an opportunity" = a higher paycheck.

IMO it's "More of an opportunity" = I don't want to play in Winnipeg

Watch him sign a cheap bridge contract after he gets traded, there's no reason this guy should have more bargaining power than a guy like Ryan Murray. I think it's as simple as he doesn't want to play in Winnipeg (or anywhere in Canada possibly)

See the above for the contrast between what you think you post, and what you actually post.

Chevy got a lot more for Kane than Murray is going to get for him.

Considering the Jets are stacked at the RHD position, I see this turning into a big win for Chevy and the Jets. Trouba is in no position to demand concessions from Winnipeg. Let the bidding begin.

If they haven't been negotiating for months, I don't understand why Trouba wasn't dealt at the draft.

Exactly. It would make too much sense to make a deal at the peak trading season and have the players you get in return have time to adjust over the summer and find a place to live and be ready to go for training camp. Instead, sit on a problem and let it blow up to the point where it leaks to the press and perform damage control. Pi$$ poor management.

I'm not sure why Chevy isn't being commended. How is this any different than Yzerman not wanting to trade Drouin unless it was under his terms?

Drouin is under contract. Trouba is not. Trouba played out his elc to his credit.

Would certainly put to rest his stated reason for wanted to get out. He'd be the clear #1 in Edm though it would be a lateral move in terms of quality of life, city culture etc.

Maybe more chance of getting stabbed? I dunno.

Right. But then he'd effectively be allowing them to call his bluff.

Chiarelli: "Hey man, you get to be #1, you can have all the ice-time you want!! Take it! Please! We're begging you!!!!!"

Trouba: "Ummm...no. Nope. No thanks. Please refrain from humping my leg."

I don't get it. 22 minutes a night and he's not happy on the depth chart. He's not a number 1 defenseman anywhere in the NHL (Edmonton doesn't count). Truly baffling

It is the lengths that players will go to get out of Winnipeg.

Maybe Winnipeg will just trade Myers.

That would make sense to me.

"The Winnipeg Jets have traded the Winnipeg Jets to San Dimas in exchange for no longer being in Winnipeg and Three Magic Beans*."

*The magic beans are contingent on it never snowing in Winnipeg. Ever.
