Ktachuk I noticed is always trying to score, gave the impression he is a shoot first guy... which is great for the flames, need another shooter in the midst of many play makers. Bennett was by far the best forward on the ice, noticeable even when I wasn't tracking him. Gio was naturally the best D, wideman was actually very noticeable positively as well. Ktachuk and Gio went on a 2-0 passing drill at one point, Gio scored pretty easily and Ktachuk was smiling and hollered pretty joyously over to Gio on the play. Nothing ground breaking to share there other than it was interesting to see Ktachuk so comfortable, seemed relaxed and having fun. Speaking of scoring easy, one goalie 99% sure it was mcdonald went through a good 5 minutes of drills where he let in just about every shot, and couldn't handle any rebounds. He was terrible. Was wearing white pads with yellow and black thick lines in the centre of the pads, maybe someone else can confirm who it was. Never seen a pro goalie look so poor. Last play that really stood out for me was Janko going 1 on 1 vs Gio in the corner to battle for the puck. Battle was pretty heavy and Janko pulled out of the battle pretty cleanly with the puck and had a real good scoring opportunity. Interesting to see he has the skill to do so against a good player, albeit the sample size was as small as it can get. I noticed carrol a bunch too, I wasn't looking for him, but finding myself asking who the player was a bunch of times. He always seemed to find chances and be in the right spot, but then follow that excitement up with a gaff, miss or giveaway. Has some upside but is missing a certain NHL polish, seems like a perpetual tweener unless something changes. Only really noticed Tuolo after a play he was fooling around with the puck, really good hands, even completed one of those behind the net lacrosse style goals.

That's about all I caught, everyone else was kind of meh especially the young D.

As you can see I was still editing. You're welcome for taking the time out of my busy day! Called out both of the grammar nazi whine attempts before they were made.

Don't worry about it, just funny to misspell a player's name throughout.

Like when people use McGratton, Monohan, Frolic, or Jerome.

Thanks for the rundown regardless!

Tkachuk-Bennett-Brouwer still skating together this morning. Will probably see that line in Cgy at tomorrow's split squad game vs. Oilers.

Why didn't some of the undercover CP investigators in attendance follow them when they left the morning session with tape recorders under your jackets and those audio guns for eavesdropping?

When will we get lines for tomorrow ? Me living In Edmonton (fml) would like to know if it's worth the cost to go tomorrow.

That lineup is not going to be very good.

With Monahan, Gaudreau and Backlund out, and the Tkachuk-Bennett-Brouwer line and Elliott playing in YYC, you're probably going to get the Higgins and Grossmans up there...but just a guess.

Just going to be posting some quick thoughts

Goalies.

Elliott is good. Damn good. It will be fun.
Johnson is a great backup. Both were very composed.
Gillies is closer to being ready. Solid in his net. Will likely see a ton of ice in Stockton
McDonald was okay. Better than Penticton in terms of composure.
Rittich was better than previous viewings. An AHL backup.
Schneider was decent.
Parsons robbed a couple shooters and was the best prospect goalie (not counting gillies)

Team C

Brodie + Engelland are basically in mid season form.
Kulak could fill in as a #7 right now.
Falkovsky is slower than he can be. smart two way defender with good hands and shot. Impressive for a 7th rounder.
Kylington still makes a handful of bad plays. Kylington is still our best defensive prospect. Just a matter of when rather than if.
Grigoriev is adequate as a walk on. Adequate does not equate to a contract.

Matt Bailey made a couple good toe drags and some flashy plays. He would also make really bad decisions. Probably won't result in a contract.

Vey and Frattin = lesser Derek Grant types that will be veterans in Stockton.

Ferland/Hathaway/F. Hamilton/Bollig are all 11th/12th/13th/14th forward types. some skill, but nothing to write home about.

Higgins is a smart player. However, he is too slow. Probably not an NHLer.

Frolik was the best of group C

Pollock and Phillips = Call back in 2 years to see if they progress. too early to see.

I'll write more later. Don't have time to go in depth for the rest.

The Flames will send their D list prospects to Edmonton. The Oilers will do the same with the players going to Calgary. It's like that every year.
