For what it's worth. Brad Treliving and Craig Conroy are not in the box behind us anymore.

Any CPers here? Come up to the top row in front of the Flames' brass, say hi.

Really appreciate the coverage once again. On honey moon in St.Lucia and being able to sneak back to the room for sunscreen and a CP check has been wonderful.

Just waiting for the JG signs w/ Calgary post

Kristen Odland:

Tkachuk-Bennett-Brouwer still skating together this morning. Will probably see that line in Cgy at tomorrow's split squad game vs. Oilers

Rumours of a Gaudreau spotting, and suddenly the thread is dead? Coincidence?

Kidding....

Just got out of the 11am session, and had a great time with CagedGreat, Freeway, and the scorpion who is a great kid and should be treated nicer here.

A few thoughts from the session

I'll reiterate a few common things, Mangiapane looks great out there. A deceptive, sneaky shot, great lateral movement and really creative. He had a hell of a 1-1 play that nearly scored.

Carroll has a hell of a shot but is out of step with the play

Jankowski looked real good out there. His skating has always been beautiful, and he's such a responsible player. Caged great seems to think he may make the team out of camp, I'm not as optimistic as he wasn't as assertive out there as he needs to be to succeed in the NHL. But that's something you gain with confidence. Regardless I would be suprised not to see him in the saddledome sometime this year.

Bennett was a standout on the ice. He looks thicker, you can noticeably tell he's gained weight. Him, Brouwer and Tckachuk put on a clinic at one point in an offensive zone 5-5 drill, and Bennett was the star of it.

Speaking of Tka####, he was great but I think he needs to put on weight, especially compared to how Bennett is looking right now. This kid will be a great player however. He had one of the slickest passes of the morning on a two on one drill that was buried.

Brouwer looked as advertised. Strong, lots of sandpaper, and a good scoring touch. Him and Benny were absolutely robbed on a beautiful 2-1. He gave Jankowski a good elbow to the head at one point in the 5-5.

Tuulola had some nice moves and good puck protection

Kanzig did not look very good out there. Everything was just so slow, from his lateral movement to his release. I really think he's going to need a lot of AHL seasoning.

No one else really stood out in a good or bad way. Gio was great as you would expect. The goalies were forgettable, which is something that McDonald shouldn't be happy with.

Caged Great and I just got back from lunch, so we will be watching. Again, if any CPers are here, stop by and say hello.

I was really enjoying your summary, until this.

I mean, how can I trust your opinions now? Are you even a Flames fan???

Many thanks to those sharing their thoughts about the camp and the various bits of news floating around there. It's really appreciated, and I enjoy reading this kind of stuff.

Was there from 1030-1145.

As mentioned Bennett/Brouwer/Ktachuk were together often and surprisingly showed chemistry already. Ktachuk I noticed is always trying to score, gave the impression he is a shoot first guy... which is great for the flames, need another shooter in the midst of many play makers. Bennett was by far the best forward on the ice, noticeable even when I wasn't tracking him.

Gio was naturally the best D, wideman was actually very noticeable positively as well. Ktachuk and Gio went on a 2-0 passing drill at one point, Gio scored pretty easily and Ktachuk was smiling and hollered pretty joyously over to Gio on the play. Nothing ground breaking to share there other than it was interesting to see Ktachuk so comfortable, seemed relaxed and having fun.

Speaking of scoring easy, one goalie 99% sure it was Mcdonald went through a good 5 minutes of drills where he let in just about every shot, and couldn't handle any rebounds. He was terrible. Was wearing white pads with yellow and black thick lines in the centre of the pads. Maybe someone else can confirm who it was. Never seen a pro goalie look so poor.

There was a play that really stood out for me when Janko going 1 on 1 vs Gio in the corner to battle for the puck. Battle was pretty heavy and Janko pulled out of the battle pretty cleanly with the puck and had a real good scoring opportunity. Interesting to see he has the skill to do so against a good player, albeit the sample size was as small as it can get.

I noticed carrol a bunch too, I wasn't looking for him, but finding myself asking who the player was a bunch of times. He always seemed to find chances and be in the right spot but, then would follow that excitement up with a gaff, miss or giveaway. Has some upside but is missing a certain NHL polish, seems like a perpetual tweener unless something changes.

Only really noticed Tuolo after a play, when he was fooling around with the puck, really good hands, even completed one of those behind the net lacrosse style goals.

That's about all I caught, everyone else was kind of meh especially the young D.

PS I know I misspelled a few names, not going to edit, the point is clear enough
