It's a game. It should still be somewhat challenging. Being spoonfed candies and the like would make it really boring really fast.

Instead of becoming boring it's become really painful. Non scaling xp is bad enough. Having to walk 300 km to evolve a wartortle is ludacris.

I agree that the distances are insane it would have been much better 1,2,3 km per candy. 5km for 1 dragonite candy is crazy. Also why are the starters that come out of 2km eggs 3 candies per km while Pikachu is 1 km per candy

Previously you could only get candy when you hatched or caught that type of pokemon, which were random events. Now you have the ability to earn candy by just walking, so you now have a non-random way to get candies for whatever pokemon you want. Explain to me how this is a negative addition?

I imagine research park is what you are referring to.

Finally have 400 Magikarp candies, but I don't seem to have a good Magikarp to evolve. Should I go with one of these, or "keep fishing";
CP151, HP31, 3000 Dust power up and leader likes Attack
CP144, HP32, 2500 Dust power up and leader likes HP
CP156, HP31, 3500 Dust to power up and leader likes Defense.
I'm level 25 and I have never caught or hatched a higher CP than the 156 one. Seems weak.

I would do the 151 Magikarp, I seem to recall Attack being a larger Multiplier.
Probably end up with a 1700-1800 Gyrados

I'd do the 144, its lower level but similar CP, likely better potential.

anybody else pick up the pokemon go plus today it seems to help with distance walked I believe it has a pedometer built in and if you are near a pokemon or pokes top it will light up and you can get them by just hitting a button

Those aren't bad Magikarps at all.
If you are not going to power it up then evolve the one with highest CP unless you only plan on using it for attacking gyms then I would go with the CP151 one.
If you do plan to power it up then the CP144 has the highest potential and I would go with that one. Based on appraiser liking HP its got about 89-93% perfection and attack bonus stat is 13-14/15 which is damn good too!
Most importantly just hope for bite and water pump for the move set.

Sometimes when I'm at home on the computer I'll pull up my tracker just to see what's around - it usually isn't very good and only shows a few around of what's actually there.
Well I just pulled it up and saw an aerodactyl and debated going to get it (it was a few minute drive away). Ended up saying meh - they aren't on the list of best attackers/defenders.
But 1 minute later a snorlax came up and I gunned it to get him (was a 6-8 minute drive on a 13 minute timer and I had to search for him a bit). This definitely wasn't the way Niantic intended the game but hey it was pretty fun to go for a spontaneous hunt.
Edit: it was on Aspen Hills Drive and 17th Ave. I've never seen anything rare up here so this is nice! All there is is eevees, anything rare I've had to go to Eau Claire for.

Was in Ottawa today, on Parliament Hill, and in less than an hour we caught Snorlax (finally! Though just a baby) Aerodactyl and Lapras.
Had initially thought it was probably a pretty easy game to play in Ottawa, but maybe it was just a great day for rares.
