I joined because of my interest in the Flames.
I can't imagine not having CalgaryPuck around now. It's my go to page for Hockey and any off topic info as well. Great place to sell stuff to non sketchy Kijjijji folks

Despite living in Calgary for more than 20 years and being a diehard Flames fan, was never one for blogging about my team until I found myself wanting to read more and more about the Flames when they finally went full rebuild post Iggie/ JBo trades. I was done with the "lets squeek into the playoffs every year but keep Kipper and Iggie" era years before it ended.
CP is now the only site one needs being all things Flames and more. Some nice other things Calgary is a bonus.
The site is totally addictive. Remarkably well informed posters. My knowledge on all things Flames is 1000% better now.
It sure helps when the organization is making smart moves on a regular basis.
I missed out on the days when CP must have gone berserk with the ridiculous trades/drafts/contracts in the pre BB/BT era.

Every time I googled "Flames news" CP would pop up. Over time I just skipped the Google and came straight here. Been part of my daily ritual ever since. 14 years, wow, #oldballs.
I've done an incredible job of staying irrelevant in that amount of time 
I think I finally signed up (after lurking) when an article I wrote for fourth period was linked. I no longer do that (over a decade).

Donīt post much these days, but comes in to read a couple of times each day... Been a member since... I guess 2000, the Fire on Ice-days? Which makes me really, really old.
I pprobably just searched for Calgary Flames on altavista or something like that. Being a swede Flames-fan surely has changed a lot since I became a fan. Must have been 15 years into my supporting before I could catch my first game.

This place is the riderfans.com of the NHL. Great place to be for a fan of the team as well as breaking NHL news. The differences being there's actually real moderation here, most of us have all of our teeth, and aren't married to our cousins.
Another bonus is if I ever feel like I'm too good of a person I can come here and get knocked down a couple notches from level headed, and friendly posters like driveway that are always kind enough to critique a stranger on the internet.
