I actually joined up to trash Brent. I couldn't stand the guy's tactics even during his first season as coach. The team was supposed to improve on Keenan's first round exits and saw 3 straight seasons without playoffs. Funny that Hartley was not only able to make the playoffs with Wideman/Russell as his #1 pairing, they beat the Canucks soundly.

My roommate in first year of university was from Toronto was a huge Leafs fan and lurked on Leafs boards. I was intrigued and searched for a Flames equivalent, found CP and lurked for about a year, then joined to participate in conversation. When I was living away from home it was a great connection to home.

If I recall correctly, I had been lurking for a long time. It was well after the magnificent 04 run, but before 2011. I lived in Calgary back in 08 and my brother-in-law turned me into the site. I would browse and read, but I didn't sign up until 2011. I was given a jacket that (reportedly) once belonged to Steve Tambellini who is from my hometown area. I posted some pictures and asked for confirmation. I also posted a badass video about the old Rossland tractor-zamboni that a friend of mine made.

I don't recall which came first.

I joined mainly because of the off-topic forum.

This is genuinely a great community filled with real people from all over the world. Lots of advice offered and intelligent discussions. And then some downright weird and hilarious threads as well haha. CP has become very addictive for me. Basically on my daily routine of browsing forums/reddit/social media.

I still can't get over how one person took advantage of CP's honesty and kindness and scammed us with the GoFundMe bull####. Hey ####er, if you're still reading this, #### you. We just learn and move on I guess.

Yup, lurked for a long time too. Actually signed up to jump into the middle of a Bertuzzi argument in support of him playing again. That went really well for me.

As a long time Flames fan that grew up in Fort Mac, I was constantly surrounded by Greasers fans.

2001-02 season the Flames came storming out of the gate, going something like 13-2-2 and in 1st place. I thought finally after all those ####ty years we would make the playoffs. Then the team collapsed, but Iggy scored 52 goals that year and having nobody to discuss the Flames with I stumbled upon CP that summer and signed up prior to pre-season for the 2002-03 season. I don't even want to think about how many hours I've spent on this site over the last 14 years.

Oh and thats also why I picked 8sPOT for my user name. I was hoping we would somehow sneak into the 8th spot and make the playoffs. And weed.

Hahaha yep. I miss that forum actually, it was a neat dynamic with only a handful of regular posters.

I still remember that mind numbing debate with oilers fans on how our c of red wasnt actually what it is. They claimed that they lit the Arena red to make everyone's clothes look like red jerseys.

Oilers fans are stupid everywhere.

I migrated over from the Calgaryflames.com forum. Someone commented on there why that forum was so dead, and then another responded that this was because most fans post on Calgarypuck forums.
