I blame hwy19man for getting me here, LOL. That's the main reason why and came over from the Flames NHL.com board. Simply the best damn message board around for everything Flames, hockey, and off topic.

Can't remember. Been here since 99 or 2000. My new office job was boring, needed something to do. Greyshep was the one who showed me the site.

Came across it first year I lived in China in an Internet cafe as I was trying to keep up with my beloved Flames finally going on this amazing playoff run and have been a daily reader ever since. This site basically kept me sane (I think) for my seven years abroad.

A Bird told me about it back in 2000 when I started university. God it's been a long time.

Moved to Calgary in December 2006. Never seen an 'ice hockey' game. Saw on the news a few weeks later that some guy called Craig Conroy had been transferred back to the Calgary Flames. Listened to his interview and thought was a nice cheeky chappie he was! Was then given tickets to a Hitmen game. Had NO IDEA what was going on! Did some googling to try to learn about hockey. Found CP. Lurked as a guest for a while. Joined in January 2009. My hockey obsession is complete.

I was living in Vancouver and couldn't stand all the Canucks talk - I needed Flames talk! CalgaryPuck delivered.

Friends liked it and talked about it.

So I checked it out and liked what I saw.

I stay for the sweet GIFs, game time threads, sureloss/breaking news, bashing the oil, and Gaskals around the league after wins. Like seriously. That #### is amazing.

I was on my friend's computer and he had the internet, so out of curiosity I searched for Flames rumours (this was back in like 1999 when not everyone had the internet). I came across the old FOI forum and signed up, then signed up on day 1 when it became CalgaryPuck. My handle was "Skoda" back then.

I used to lurk on the SN forums because both Edmonton and Toronto were both such terrible teams (and both still are!) that I really enjoyed reading the meltdowns that occurred on a daily basis.

Eventually started looking for more Flames news and found CP. Lurked for a couple years and then made my account eventually.

Found it on the internet by accident in 2007. Never left CP from that magic moment. Checking this site 221512532215 times a day :-)

Was on HF around 1999/2000 and disappointed with the Flames coverage there. Flames Draft Watcher encouraged me to check out Fire On Ice.

I feel like CP is like one of my best friends growing up and I should have asked it to be one of my groomsmen.

I thought everybody came here for the hookers and blow. Now, I am disappoint.

I came here from the usenet forums. Would have come a couple of years earlier but somebody decided to troll the Flames usenet forum about how dumb we were for posting there and only smart Flames fans use CP. I decided to be stubborn and stay away from CP.

During the 2004 playoff run, I caved in and moved to CalgaryPuck because usenet wasn't well frequented anymore and I was craving good hockey discussion. I wasn't disappoint.

Joined to buy flames tickets for the GF to be honest. Stayed for entertainment during mundane spring break up, and now more slow times at work.

love these stories ...

can't believe it's been almost 17 years with Calgarypuck, and I would guess almost 20 if you include the Fire On Ice days.

The story behind the story behind the story was SLAM Sports, the old canoe site for the Calgary, Edmonton Sun etc. They had a really active message board that was going to hell quickly with abuse etc.

So I found one of those archaic create your own message board sites and got a few guys to move over. Two years later Board got Calgarypuck but didn't have the traffic. Approached me to merge and the rest is history.

Wild ride!

Then you showed it to me... you jerk. And after months of lurking, I signed up because so many people were WRONG about things and had to be corrected.

I stumbled across this site in probably 2009 and lurked for a little. I didn't join because in my mind, I thought everyone would think I was a bandwagon fan because everyone's user title had join dates of like 2001 and 2002 so I was ashamed that I was late to the party.

I lurked CP and the official Flames forum for a bit after that.

Then when I moved to the States, I had no one to talk hockey with anymore so I began lurking again pretty regularly. Took me a long time to join, but I'm happy I did.

This is the best place to get not only Flames news, but hockey news. When times are slow, you got the off topic forum too which is great. I even bought a bbq off a guy from this site.

PS: Have you guys visited the official Flames forum? It's such a joke. There are like 4 regular posters.
