I don't know, the Mighty Ducks started out a bit Disney theatrical and ended up toning it down to something more standard in the end.

It's the word 'Mighty' that made it silly. Aces is a pretty common spots team name. Blackjacks is probably pretty unique but I wouldn't call it silly.

Personally, I think the removal of Mighty made the Ducks exponentially lamer. They have had one of the three worst jerseys in the game ever since. And now they're just the Ducks. It's so forgettable.

The Mighty Ducks had some of the best jerseys in the league. Say 'Mighty Ducks' and try not to smile.

Now it's just a bunch of daffy looking trolls.

No, it is because there was a meadow in the desert.

Las Vegas got that name after green meadows, which were on that spot because there was water from underground artesian wells (the surrounding land is wasteland).

That water enabled the foundation of the city in the desert and another important factor was the railroads built there, which connected Los Angeles and Salt Lake City.

Bill Foley may get his wish on his hockey team being called the Knights. Just with a modifier.

Last week domain names were registered that might be an indicator that the NHL team scheduled to begin play in 2017 could be called the Las Vegas Desert Knights.

Last week the domains lasvegasdesertknights.com, vegasdesertknights.com and desertknightshockey.com were privately registered to Moniker Privacy Services, which happens to be the same company that owns the domain to NHL.com.

Foley said via text message he had no comment regarding the process when reached by the Review-Journal.


There is, however, no indication that Moniker Privacy Services is connected to Foley or the NHL.

Desert Knights would still be preferable though to the Hawk variations. Most people will probably just call them the Knights any.
