I guess the one thing that doesn't come with having the financial means to acquire such a team is some creativity. You know, just enough not to get hung up on a word that's already existed within the league for almost a hundred years.

I completely understand the want to stear clear of gambling references, I wouldn't necessarily consider Aces or Blackjacks (both of which I think would be unique and awesome, kind of like Vegas...) to be Gambling references. Firstly, they're playing cards. They are used to play games. Sometimes people bet on those games, not unlike any other sport. Aces can also be a double entrendre for pilots, which have a history in the area, or just someone who has good aim.

And both names leave room for some very interesting jerseys. I think it would be a mistake to go with something bland in the name of trying to make your team sound "traditional". Embrace the theatrics. Isn't that the whole reason to go there? Seems like a huge marketing miss to me. I would probably buy a Las Vegas Aces/Blackjacks hat just to have one. Maybe even a jersey if they did them right. I would not do the same for the Redhawks or Nighthawks.
