Man... it's a good thing that team has such a poor roster south of the blueline because that Forward depth is insane.

Its a good spot for Hudler. He gets to play with offensive producing forwards. He also is on a team that will more than likely make the playoffs. If he contributes he has a good chance of not being traded at the deadline.

No, not the same kind of player at all. The flames needed a big, experienced winger and someone who will be vocal in the dressing room with the guys. Hudler is not that.

Move along...

I don't understand the point of that tweet.
That Bouma is overpaid? Yeah we know that.
That Hudler is underpaid?
That different types of players make different amounts of money?
That the Flames should have retained Hudler?

If Hudler plays like he did 2 years ago this will be an absolute steal. Physical and more complete with an ability to possess the puck for more than 1.5 seconds.

If Hudler plays like he did last year this will be an over-payment but not the end of the world especially on a 1 year deal.

Risk is low and reward can be high. Great deal for Dallas.

Savvy Stars signing at that low cap hit. 'No Shoes' Jiri should find himself on the ice with quality skaters with Big D's deep roster.

Yup, he also has a poll up I believe on who will score more points - Hudler or Brouwer. Really comes across as an axe to grind.

I liked Hudler and wish they could have kept him over maybe 2-3 guys currently on the team... Stajan, Bollig , Bouma at least. Time to move on. Best of luck to him except when he plays us...

While i kind of agree of him being better than the 3 you mentioned, all 3 players mentioned are 4th line players. Hudler would be just as much of a waste as those 3 being used on 4th line. Really can't wait for flames to clean up that 4th line to a more cap friendly 4th line.

Also if anybody thinks Hudler would have signed a 1 year deal at $2 million to play in Calgary is nuts. He would have known they day he signed that contract that he would be traded at the deadline.

I don't know, he still had 46 points last year. He may not be a complete player, but 2 million for a near 50 point player doesn't seem like a bad deal to me. Seems like kind of a home run for Dallas. His play would have to fall off considerably even from last year for this to be a big overpayment.

In today's NHL that's a pretty bargain basement price for a forward who can put up the scoring totals that Hudler has. Really for one year at that dollar figure, that's a pretty low risk signing by Dallas.

I thought Hudler actually had pretty good hockey sense, and was pretty solid positionally. He doesn't go into corners to win battles, and obviously isn't a physically engaging player. But I still think he offers something at this price point to make him a good option.

Both goaltending and defense are below average, not even playoff caliber much less contender caliber. Their forwards are something else though.

Meh. They have 4 really strong top 6 forwards and 2 question marks. Certainly a dangerous group but basically similar to a lot of teams, including the Flames, they appear to have some strong pairs, and then a complimentary forward to go with them.
Of course if Nisch can realize his potential - that's an x factor.
