Seeing the mics for picking up crowd noise leads me to believe that either:
a) Concerts will be available for download or
b) A special edition set of tracks, perhaps all unique tracks that are performed on the tour, being made part of a final boxed set that will include a Bluray of the CBC concert broadcast to accompany the CDs.
There were a couple video cameras filming the whole thing from the front of the stage so I would definitely suspect the same.
That's so sweet frequitude - I was wondering what they were handing out.
One moment for me last night that really stood out was during World Container. I can't remember every seeing them play that live (last night was my 5th hip concert) and at the end of the song the last few lines are "Where all songs are one song and that song is Don't Forget" and then he pointed to himself while saying don't forget. Damn that was tough.
Just a really great night, filled with a bunch of emotions that I never thought a band could pull out of me. I hope I never forget

We had floor seats for last night's show, right across from the players box. They will be great seats! Just remember to rock out! Down on the floor we're all losing our minds cheering and dancing, and I looked over to the players box, and there's this high-maintenance looking woman, all perfect hair and fake nails chowing down on pizza and looking bored. Promise me you won't be That Lady!
Definitely won't be!!! I'm so excited to do it all again tomorrow. And my fingers are crossed that they play Scared and At the 100th Meridian too.

I'm going! Only behind the stage tickets were available but for such a low price I get to be in the building. I regret not bothering to go when they were in Lethbridge a couple of years ago. This makes it all right. I'm excited to go. My wife took me to my first Hip concert and now we get to go to our last Hip concert. It will be emotional but based on all the vids I've seen of the concerts on this tour, it will be a rocking time.
I think my ideal set list which follows the established pattern would be. Fully Completely: Courage, At the Hundredth Meridian, Wheat Kings, Fifty Mission Cap Man Machine Poem: 4 different songs from last night. We are the Same: Not familiar enough to specify 4 songs. Just remember enjoying it over the past few months. Phantom Power: Poets, Fireworks, Bobcaygeon, Something On Day for Night: Nautical Disaster, Scared, So Hard Done By, Grace Too (Encore 1) Road Apples: Cordelia, Long Time Running, Three Pistols (Encore 2) Up to Here: 38 Years Old, New Orleans is Sinking
Been stewing over my ideal Fully Completely set all afternoon. I think I'd change it to:
Fully Completely: Courage, Looking for a Place to Happen, At the Hundredth Meridian, Locked in the Trunk of a Car.
The first three songs off the album in succession just remind me too much of first experiencing the Hip on tape when you couldn't bounce around songs as easily. It's just too much to pass up. And Locked in the Trunk of a Car would just make for such an awesome live performance. Eerie, musical and intense. Wheat Kings would be a great singalong but I can do that in my car. I want the experience. And I can get my mellow fix with Scared and Long Time Running.
My biggest regret is missing out on their last tour dedicated to this album. Had floor seats but had a conflict so sold them at the last minute. Big mistake in hindsight.

Nervous anticipation has filled my head for the last couple of months leading up to the August 1 Tragically Hip concert at the Saddledome in Calgary Alberta. The thought of this show has been in the back of mind since the delivery of the devastating news regarding the health of beloved front man Gord Downie.
As the days drew near, back of mind turned to front of mind, to all encompassing. What was waiting for me in that stadium? Last night that sheet was pulled back to reveal a band smashing its way through a back catalogue like a freight train through a watermelon.
The Kingston gents served up their set list in a mini album format. What a great way to witness a concert unfold. You hear the opening riffs of Three Pistols and now you know that three more songs from Road Apples are coming. The mind twists and the mental bets are made…what songs will they deliver. That’s the fun of it all – what’s next?
As the night continued they carried on through World Container and Man Machine Poem. The new songs sounded tremendous and after hearing them live, I feel like I’ve finally accepted the new album.
With the first sets complete a costume change occurred and for me a new direction for the show started to emerge under the baseline of So Hard Done By. Day for Night was on the table and the tracks got deeper much like the albums undertones. I love this album and maybe it’s the bias kicking in – but this was the show I came to see. Yawning or Snarling was delivered flawlessly. Daredevil thundered. Then it happened, the ultimate power bomb - Grace Too.
Unceremoniously Gord reached into the crowd and retrieved a pair of blue rimmed bug eyed glasses. He gently placed them over his eyes and immediately was cast under a spell. The onstage possession lit the fire storm of the audience. The next six minutes were brimming with a band thriving off the very energy that built this city. Imagine a game seven atmosphere romancing a campfire sing along, that was Grace Too. The crowd was so ravenous for one man to step to the microphone and plead his case. The place was frothing o n that electricity and at times it was hard to hear the band over the crowd. Think about that: It was so loud in that stadium you couldn’t hear the band – at a rock concert. The intensity rose to a fever pitch during those six magical minutes and never came down for the rest of the night. I get goose bumps just thinking about.
This is why you pay the money, why you get yourself in that building. The switch was thrown and the rest of the night blew up into something we could no longer contain. Bobcaygeon, Escape is at Hand Gift Shop all laid out with nothing left to scour. Flamenco swept the air with beautiful melodies and the simple elegance that these men can deliver so finely. The feels hit me as the delicate drawn out intro of Ahead by a Century started. It was impossible to stop the flow of tears down my cheek as these soundwaves careened. I knew it was going to happen and I felt no shame as I wasn’t alone.
All of us had these moments during these two hours. It would be impossible to calculate the number of different connections between song and fans. All of us have personal ties to their work as it has been a steady presence for as long as most of us can remember. Joy, sadness and love – all of it, all at once. None of us wanted it to be over. We would stay there all night if we could but that is not how this works.
With the echoes of Blow at High Dough still resonating, the band laid down their tools and waved their goodbye. The house lights rose and their stood a man clad in shiny silver pants and a Jaws T-shirt. An icon, alone on stage – surrounded by thousands - soaking in the admiration of a generation.
The crowd was relentless in their appreciation as they came to terms with what was occurring. A humble man taking his final bow and saying”Au Revior.” There we were in the midst of an everlasting memory searing into our existence.
“It was one of those nights” he quipped and with a final wave he turned and walked into the shadows wiping away a tear. Nobody could sidestep the emotion, not even Gord.
It all happened and I was there.

Really wishing I bought one of the cheap single tix that popped up today to go again. Must of been a brief moment of altruism to leave the experience for others...kicking myself now.
Just checking after reading about some of you having to pick up with credit cards; I bought my tickets from a family member and have them printed from PDF. I don't need his CC too, do I? Or is that just for will call.

I used to love the Hip, but let me devotion falter about 15 years ago during the height of my music snobbery. I didn't get a ticket because I didn't want to take up space that should go to a diehard fan. But I've been listening to their music a lot lately, and watching videos (like their amazing Woodstock '99 set) I'm rediscovering the band we all love. I'm going to go tomorrow and feel all the emotions that have been poured out here. I can't wait.
And the new record is really good. Gord can be proud that his final recording is worthy of his legacy as a songwriter and performer.
Here's the Woodstock video.

It was about as close to a religious experience as I've had. For those of you with tickets for Wednesday, enjoy. Get to your seats for 8:30 sharp with all the beers/etc. you need to tide you over until 10:45-11:00.

I think the CC ones were just for ones where you didn't actually get a ticket. I was one of them. Literally just swiped my card at one special line and a little ticket tag printed out. If you've got an actual ticket I'm 99% sure you'll just scan it regularly at one of the many lines.

You won't need his CC. Only if you're picking up a ticket. If you have the ticket printed off with a barcode, you'll be good to go.

My friend has a ticket up on Kijiji for $80 I think. I think that is face value (or less, counting the Ticketmaster fees). It is not behind the stage.
