You've been going on for pages and pages with angry hyperbole. How much further are you willing to drag this thread into the mud?

The incident was the actual play. I don't really fault him for that as I can't see him in a sound mind getting up and deciding to attack an official. I think it was either accidental or a result of the concussion. I'm not calling him scum for that.
I think he is scum for blaming the refs and media and what I believe was lying to the experts based on the decision released. Shows a lack of character at the very least.
If he would have taken responsibility, or at least not blame the refs and media for his actions (intentional or not), then I would not be calling him scum.

He's not blaming the refs and media for the incident, he's blaming them for his 20 game suspension. Two very different things and there is some truth in what he says since that brings politics into the decision. He's also going up against an adversarial system so he needs to defend himself however he can.

Yes, I understand that. I don't believe that Wideman thought Erik Francis or some other media member physically or mentally made him run into Henderson. :P
But if we are to believe Wideman, he was interviewed by Dr. Kutcher where he stated he did not recall the incident.
The very next day he texted Gregory Campbell saying that the only problem and the only reason he was there was cause the stupid refs and stupid media. If Wideman couldn't recall the incident, why is he blaming the refs and media for anything? Why wasn't he texting "Holy crap, I can't believe that happened because of the hit I received."
When I blacked out and woke up next to the dead hooker, I didn't blame the cops for investigating. I don't know what happened, maybe it was my fault or maybe it wasn't but since I couldn't recall I wasn't going to blame others. That's integrity.

What a god awful analogy. In this example the players union would be the pimp and the media, would still be the media. The NHL would be the cops and Wideman never criticized the NHL for investigating.
It was speculated by some that the officials union was putting pressure on the NHL by threatening to have their officials mail it in, in your example that would be like a pimp blackmailing the cops. The media crucified Wideman from the get go, most outlets only showing the angle that made it look the most menacing. So I'm not sure how being upset with the officials union and the media makes him scum, in fact it's not a stretch to say that anyone in that situation would have been upset with those circumstances.
So if you woke up next to a dead hooker would you be upset if her pimp was manipulating the cops and the media was crucifying you without an investigation? I imagine you would be quite upset.

What analogy?
Okay, so let's say that the refs were putting pressure on the NHL and the media was crucifying Wideman.
Wideman doesn't know what happened. At least according to what he told Dr. Kutcher. Correct? So if the media is insinuating that he intentionally hit Henderson, how does he know that isn't the case? If the officials union are putting pressure on because a player cross-checked one of them? How is Wideman sure that's not what actually happened. Sure, we can be pedantic on the definition of intentional, but as far as Wideman knows (if we believe what he said to Dr. Kutcher), he may have got up and attacked the official for being in his way. Sure, it would be because of the concussion, but Wideman can not claim it to be accidental in the classical sense because he doesn't recall the incident.
His texts, to me, imply that he thinks that he was not at fault, that it was an accident. Would you agree with that?
Would that also not mean he recalled the event? Yet the day before he was having issues....

His texts were pretty clearly about him having a hearing, not what happened on the ice. You are really making too much out of a text message of which you have zero context. I would even argue that the character assassination of calling him scum over a text message is more scummy than the text itself.

I did, just after I posted that. Really, how do I block a forum member so I do not see anything they post. I am positive you could do that before.

If people (often including me) want to beat a dead horse, have at it. The sanctimonious folks with the god-given power to decide when a discussion is over are far more annoying.
Oling_Roachinen's reality must be like a spy vs. spy cartoon, as he obviously has no appreciation for the shades of grey in life.
Lastly, re: Flames forum vs. other forums, of course there is going to be some bias, but the bigger difference is that we are simply looking much more closely at the incident. I'm always more interested in what 10 'experts' have to say about something than 1000 people that saw a documentary or read one book. For OR's benefit, I will clearly spell out that I'm not saying any of us are 'experts' in this.

Judge has granted NHL request to file motion for summary judgment in legal fight with NHLPA re: Dennis Wideman’s suspension. 1/2
Rick Westhead @rwesthead
If NHL's motion granted, there would be no trial in case. Judge would rule on merits of case without testimony. 2/2

Just sit Wideman out for the first preseason game and call it a day. If this drags into the season it will only hurt the Flames.
