I remember when Kylington was drafted, Hakan Loob was interviewed and he seemed quite confident that Kylington would be in the show in 2 years. The kid just needed some stability and time to work on his defensive play.

I would not be shocked to see Kylington cement himself in Stockton's top 4 this year. Perhaps by seasons end he will see some time on the top pairing with either Kulak or Wotherspoon.

I am beginning the process of individual write ups on the players. I'm starting with the new guys. I'll post links to them all here once I'm done them all.

I will be posting the links to them for tomorrow morning.
It's been one of those weeks where everything has been going on, including helping two people move, and I haven't had enough time to get through them all and make sure that it is working properly until now.
It will be slightly different than previous seasons as I have combined all of the previous articles into one for each player, along with each year's ratings, that way you can easily see what was said about them without having to go click on other articles. There are a couple minor problems that I will go into detail after. Unfortunately, they won't be fixed for a while due to Dan being in Signapore for a month.

So here goes.
There is some technical problems with both the calculator of averages, and with either fields appearing on the front end or not appearing at all, which makes the roll out of this not as smoothly as I would have desired. Unfortunately, I cannot do anything about it, so I will post the actual ratings in this thread instead.

Click on the names to go to the articles.
Unfortunately for some reason articles on Hunter Smith, Mason McDonald and Tim Harrison did not upload properly. I will get them up later today.
The ratings are based off my opinion of their raw skill sets rather than their likelihood to make the NHL. A guy like Matthew Phillips is an extremely skilled player. Will he be able to overcome his size? that's the million dollar question.

Was Kanzig not skating hard in your viewings? He did beat out Brodie last year, and apparently is one of the fastest skaters once he hits top speed. He literally beat out everyone on the team last year IIRC, including Brodie.

Interesting...I have never heard that Kanzig was even above average with his skating, let alone this. Hopefully someone that was there can comment.

Kanzig placed 1st last year on the mountan climbers during TC, IIRC. Lowry made the same comment when Kanzig was still on the Royales - that he was by far the fastest player on team once he got going. Still needs to work on his first step and lateral movement, but his top-end speed (which is really overrated in the NHL IMO, unless you get there in the first 2-3 strides) is a thing of beauty.

agreed, all about acceleration. that's how carl hagelin is one of the quickest players in the league.

According to those scores, our prospect pool is in trouble. Which is why I'm questioning the legitimacy of the scores.
I greatly appreciate the write-ups, but strongly disagree with some of these scores (and metrics used, particularly for Goalies).

When going through the writeups, it seems like you ran out of ideas for goalie scouting criteria. Skating, aggressiveness and hockey sense are good traits to judge a goalie by - but there are other factors as well that are just as important to consider.
How is their low/high glove hand?
Low/high blocker? Fivehole?
How well do they fight through traffic?
How are they 1 on 1 in the shootout?
How tight is their rebound control?
Just tossing some ideas out for next time.

I appreciate the effort from the writer, but I agree. The scale does this a disservice. A 5 point scale does not allow for the nuance or separation that would exist in rating the skill set of these guys. I'd also like to see some comparables of NHL players on that scale, so there is a better point of reference. Woukd like to know how some of these measures were arrived at as well.
