At the press conference they did say person of interest rather than suspect.

Just like the guy who was arrested in body armor I doubt this guy is a shooter. I don't think he'd be walking down the street so nonchalantly if he was planning a massacre.
4 confirmed dead now. Just awful.

My apologizes. I didn't realize you could carry an open weapon and of that size.

well, reportedly cops arrested two suspects who turned out to be innocent; at least they managed not to kill them.

Is there a magazine in that rifle? I can't tell from most of the photos.

I'm at a loss. I hate it when these events occur, and I wish the House would at least allow a vote on gun control. That NRA money sure is sweet, I guess.

The truth is somewhere in between but talking to my wife we are certainly looking at our holiday plans to head to the US right now. My kids are scared to go down there and that is just from hearing about this ####.

That's called logic. It seems asinine that a civilian in the US should be able to carry a gun like that at a rally, or anywhere.

All of my cousins raised in the US, and they all seem alright; none particularly care for guns. As it turns out, people open carrying rifles isn't so common a thing that raising children in the US would be unwise, and when it does happen the majority of open carriers aren't opening fire at cops.
The US is obviously a ridiculous place and gun violence unimaginably off the charts, but at the same time, hyperbole doesn't much contribute to the discussion IMO

You're in Calgary? Drive to the Okanagan. It's beautiful down there at this time of year, I'd wager it's a lot cheaper due to exchange rates, and it's definitely a lot safer.

I get uncomfortable being around military personnel when they have weapons like that and they are professionals and "good guys." If I saw some random dude anywhere with a gun like that I would crap myself.
A person doing an interview on CNN just said that Dallas police are in a gun fight now with someone.

Wow, it is amazing you can carry a weapon like that around. I would be out of the vicinity not a heart beat, especially if I had my kids with me.
This is so sad. It would be a tough time to be police officer in the US right now.

Mari @Mari_Mergerson 9m
That pic circulating is not the suspect. He's the brother of co-organizer Corey Hughes. He gave the AR-15 to a cop when shooting started
Mari @Mari_Mergerson 7m
His name is Mark Hughes. He's not a suspect. He's seen in numerous videos after shooting started without his rifle

So these snipers are dead anyways right? Killing cops in a death penalty state... Just a matter of years.

11 Dallas police officers shot by 2 snipers at peaceful protest. 4 dead.
Interesting, CNN questioning that guy being in the crowd during the protest even though it was told that the shots came from an elevation
