It's an alright deal. Not as crazy as some of the other deals today. I'm on the fence, but I don't think it's THAT bad.

My reaction is that this deal is ok. About what I would expect for this level of UFA. Not a steal but not horrible. I think he will do well here

Not a fan of this signing. I like the player he is very consistent, but its too much and too long.
I think Tre is a great GM but my only true criticism is some of his signings and this is another one.

exactly the type of player we needed. Everyone raving how well liked he was in the dressing room will be huge for a young team. RW with some grit that can play around the net is a huge need.

About $500k more than I was expecting. But a 6'3" RW who can skate and doesn't take shifts off is probably worth that, a year longer than I would've wanted though.

the reactions here are crazy. It's a decent signing IMO. Term is good, AAV a bit too high, but hey, that's the July 1 tax.
RW suddenly looks pretty good. Frolik, Brouwer and Chiasson give the Flames some great depth and versatility.

Well, we need help on the RW, but still need a legit 1st line RW. Feels on par with the Frolik signing last year.

My first impression wasn't great, but this is a guy that will:
-Be able to play up and down the lineup, much like Frolik
-Has a right shot and plays naturally on the right side
-Has the ability to score 20 playing a reduced role (so let's see what he can do when given more opportunity)
-Definitely brings the edge that we always wanted from guys like Bollig and Ferland
-On that point, plays BIG
-Can play both special teams minutes
-Will most likely play to contract for 3 of those 4 years (depending on durability)
And most of all, he WANTS to be here. He is building a home in Calgary for the long term.
I like it!

Can some post a HERO chart for me?
Also, teach me how to read a HERO chart. And what one is. And why that's the current flavour of the week for how we determine player worth. Are we not using Corsi anymore? Wasn't there another one? I was told there would be no math.
Term is great, that'd why the money is a bit high. Term is the killer for these, the money is far easier to resolve if it's bad in a few years. I like it.

Well I do like him better than Hudler and Jones who were making 4 million last year. 2nd liners do get paid as UFAs. Not terrible IMO. UFAs are always overpayments but I don't think this one is crippling. Good vet.
Treliving adds 2 RWers in a matter of days. Both with some size and grit. Addressing the needs.
